Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and coordination of departments, agencies, units, and localities in the management, protection, and fire prevention of forests and the implementation of the forestry development strategy in the past period.
The city has established a Steering Committee for the implementation of the Forestry Development Strategy for the period 2021-2025. Therefore, member departments need to coordinate closely, leverage their roles, and effectively and substantively carry out the assigned tasks.
Implementing the goal of planting over 5 million trees as part of the Government's "Planting One Billion Trees in the 2021-2025 Period" project in the city is a crucial task; it ensures both the required quantity and the effectiveness of forest management and development, contributing to the city's socio -economic development.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the city's agricultural sector to develop specific and detailed plans and strategies for forest management and protection. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with other departments, agencies, and localities, should develop and implement these plans promptly, including addressing legal issues related to forest land allocation.
For projects involving reforestation, zoning, and especially the demarcation of the three types of forests, the department needs to coordinate and closely review with relevant units and localities to ensure effective management.

The city's agricultural sector needs to accelerate the research and allocation of coastal tree planting projects, such as coconut tree planting. The city will direct relevant departments and agencies to encourage the participation and support of tourism units and businesses in coastal tree planting, aiming to attract locals and tourists and create a beautiful tourist landscape.
Departments, agencies, units, and localities need to research, implement, and launch a truly effective and practical tree-planting festival; promote awareness and responsibility for planting and caring for trees in their areas; and coordinate effectively in forest development and tree planting.
At the same time, we must continue to build upon the achievements in forest fire prevention and control, ensuring the "four on-the-spot" principle; and professionalize and modernize the workforce and equipment for forest management and protection.
According to the report presented at the conference, after three years of implementing the Government's "Planting One Billion Trees in the 2021-2025 Period" project, departments, agencies, and localities have actively organized propaganda activities, responded to the tree planting festival, and carried out tree and forest planting with more than 1.024 million trees, achieving 35.52% of the three-year plan (nearly 2.884 million trees).
Specifically, 121,570 scattered trees were planted; 902,741 new trees were planted in concentrated areas, equivalent to nearly 561.8 hectares.
