Up to this point, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is the training institution with the largest number of candidates registering for university admission in the country.

According to Master Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the number of candidates registering for admission to the school on the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training this year increased dramatically with 178,294 applications (2.5 times more than last year).

Although the total number of applications to the school this year is so "huge", there are only 13,308 first-choice applications, 16,359 second-choice applications, and 17,192 third-choice applications. There are 41,307 candidates applying to the school with 10 or more applications.

Of which, the two majors with the largest number of registered candidates are logistics and supply chain management, and marketing.

Commenting on the record increase in the number of candidates applying to the school this year, Mr. Son said that it could be because there is no longer early admission, all methods are implemented simultaneously in the first round.

Meanwhile, last year, candidates who were admitted early only had to re-register their eligible admission wishes in the system if they did not want to register for other wishes.

Therefore, this year candidates tend to register many wishes to increase their chances of admission, leading to an increase in the number of applications to schools.

"According to this year's enrollment data, although the number of applications is large, the scores of candidates applying to the school are not high. The school has a candidate applying with the number 132. This candidate's high school graduation exam score is 20 points (combination A00 - math, physics, chemistry) and he is applying to the business administration major," Mr. Son added.

This year, the school's total enrollment target is 8,300 students.

Start of nationwide virtual screening process in university admissions

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's university entrance exam nationwide had nearly 850,000 candidates registering more than 7.6 million admission wishes on the general admission system. On average, each candidate registered up to 9 wishes, far exceeding the number of previous years.

Meanwhile, according to Tuoi Tre Online , the number of candidates registering for universities this year has increased sharply compared to last year. Preliminary surveys from universities show that many candidates have registered for over 100 wishes. Notably, preliminary statistics show that candidates have registered for up to 152 wishes.

Today, August 16, universities have uploaded the database to the system and organized admission exams.

From August 17 to 20, the Ministry of Education and Training officially implemented the virtual filtering process with 6 consecutive virtual filtering rounds.

This is an important step to ensure that each candidate is only admitted to one wish, and at the same time helps universities determine the exact admission score, avoiding over- or under-admission.

From 7am to 11:30am tomorrow morning, August 17, schools will begin uploading their first round of admission results to the ministry's general admission system (admission results of all school admission methods).

By 1:00 p.m. the same day, the Ministry of Education and Training will review the results of the first round of processing. Schools will download the results of the first round of processing and then process them for the next round of virtual filtering.

According to the ministry's instructions, universities nationwide will begin announcing the first round of admission scores from 5:00 p.m. on August 20, with the deadline for announcement being before 5:00 p.m. on August 22.
