Honda Thailand has officially introduced the all-new 2026 Honda Prelude in Bangkok, Thailand - marking the first time this hybrid sports coupe has been launched in Southeast Asia. The display event took place at the Emsphere shopping mall, where consumers could directly admire the sixth generation of the Prelude. The car brought to Thailand is the Japanese domestic version (JDM), finished in Crystal Black Pearl paint and striking blue brake calipers.
The exterior design retains the sporty and sharp spirit of the Prelude line, while the interior space is refined in a minimalist style, similar to the new generation Civic model. In terms of appearance, the 2026 Honda Prelude retains the same style as the concept, with dimensions of 4,532 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, 1,356 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,606 mm. The car has a sporty but softer coupe design, in line with the GT orientation. The two-door car is equipped with 19-inch wheels, Prelude Blue four-piston Brembo brake calipers, a twin-axle front suspension system taken from the Civic Type R and specially tuned adaptive dampers. The interior of the 2026 Honda Prelude borrows many details from the Civic such as a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 10.2-inch digital dashboard and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
The new feature is the seats, which use Honda’s first asymmetrical cushion design. The driver’s seat has a firmer cushion and more pronounced lower thigh support to maintain a stable sitting position. The front passenger seat is wider and more comfortable, with a focus on comfort. All versions of the 2026 Honda Prelude come standard with features like an 8-speaker Bose Centerpoint audio system as well as the Honda Sensing active safety suite with forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and driver attention monitoring. In terms of operation, the 2026 Honda Prelude uses an e:HEV hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0L gasoline engine and an electric motor, for a combined output of 183 horsepower and a maximum torque of 315 Nm. This powertrain is similar to the Civic e:HEV model, but the Prelude is equipped with an S+ Shift mode, which simulates the shifting feel of an 8-speed automatic transmission to enhance the sporty driving experience.
In addition, the 2026 Prelude also inherits some technologies from the high-performance Civic Type R model, such as dual-axle front suspension, adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, variable-ratio steering, Agile Handling Assist active cornering support system... Honda's choice of Thailand as the first ASEAN market to introduce the new 2026 Prelude sports coupe shows a clear direction in its strategy to expand its hybrid coupe line in the region. Although there has been no official announcement about the time of sale, the appearance of the model in Bangkok is considered a signal that the all-new Prelude is getting closer to Southeast Asian consumers, including the possibility of including the Vietnamese market in the near future.
