The longest bridge in the North-South Expressway Project was completed

On the morning of July 18, Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Construction) held the Ky Lo Bridge Closing Ceremony, part of the North-South Expressway Construction Project, Eastern phase 2021-2025, section through the province (North-South Expressway Project).

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Minister of Construction ; Ho Thi Nguyen Thao, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Vietnam Road Administration, Department of Construction and related units and contractors.

According to Project Management Board 85, Ky Lo Bridge (Km63+328) belongs to Package 13XL - Construction of section Km47+000-Km66+965.91, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh Component Project. This is the largest and longest bridge on the North - South Expressway in the East, with a total length of 1,873.8m, width of 17.5m; total investment of more than 1,800 billion VND.

Ky Lo Bridge is the bridge project with the most complex technical requirements among the 12 component projects of the North-South Expressway in the East. The bridge has a cantilever span of 120m, the highest pier height is up to 47.18m and has many complex geological features, difficult construction conditions. In particular, the approach bridge consists of 28 spans, using pre-cast reinforced concrete Super-T girder structure. The main bridge consists of 7 cantilever box girder spans with a span of 120m.

The structure of the lower part of the main pillars is placed on bored piles with a diameter of 2m. Ky Lo bridge project is constructed by Thang Long Corporation and TAG Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company. After more than 2 years of construction, Ky Lo bridge has officially closed the last span, completed ahead of schedule.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Viet Hung said: Ky Lo Bridge is a project with very complex technical requirements; the construction volume is very large. Meanwhile, the terrain and construction conditions are very difficult and harsh. In those conditions, the units still organized the construction effectively and completed the goal of closing Ky Lo Bridge and exceeded the set schedule. This is the result of the efforts of the investor, contractors as well as local authorities in the past time.

On behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Nguyen Viet Hung commended and highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and contractors in overcoming all difficult weather and terrain conditions to speed up progress, completing the goal of closing Ky Lo bridge 3 months ahead of schedule.

“After the bridge is closed, there is a lot of work left, requiring the investor and construction units to continue to make efforts, make more efforts to achieve the goal of completing Ky Lo Bridge by September 30, contributing to the goal of completing 3,000km of expressway by the end of 2025 in response to the emulation movement launched by the Prime Minister ”, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Viet Hung emphasized.
