The Day River overpass is a key item of the Coastal Road Construction Investment Project, section through Ninh Binh province (phase I), approved by the Provincial People's Council in Resolution No. 41/NQ-HDND dated September 30, 2019; The Provincial People's Committee approved the Project in Decision No. 1358/QD-UBND dated November 4, 2020. The total investment of the Project is more than 682 billion VND from the central and local budgets.
The Day River overpass is 1.2km long, has a cross-section of 12m, and consists of 22 spans using a continuous girder structure using the balanced cantilever method - one of the most modern bridge construction technologies today.
The foundation uses bored piles with a maximum length of over 100m. Along with that, the road leading to both ends of the bridge meets the standards of a level III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h, a road surface width of 12m, and a total length of 3.25km.
The project has completed about 85% of the volume, of which all 22 main bridge spans have been installed. Units are focusing on completing the bridge deck, railings, drainage system and K98 roadbed. K95 roadbed has been completed for more than 2km and auxiliary works are being accelerated.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, comrade Pham Quoc Chinh, Director of the Ninh Binh Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that immediately after the ceremony, the investor will detail the progress of the remaining volume, increase equipment and machinery, organize overtime, work at night, work through holidays and days off with the highest effort. The completion of the Day River overpass not only makes an important contribution to the province's strategic traffic network, but also forms a coastal traffic axis connecting key economic corridors between the three provinces of Ninh Binh-Nam Dinh-Thanh Hoa. The project is expected to expand new development space, promote regional connectivity, facilitate trade, develop marine economy, tourism, logistics, while enhancing the ability to respond to climate change and consolidate regional defense and security.
Participating in the ceremony of closing the bridge over the Day River connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc directed that immediately after the bridge is closed, the construction units will coordinate closely, focus all resources to speed up the construction progress while still ensuring quality, safety and efficiency, striving to complete the project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.
