Vietnam-Singapore economic cooperation is a bright spot in the relationship between the two countries.

On the afternoon of July 5, at the headquarters of the Central Economic Committee, Politburo member and Head of the Central Economic Committee Tran Tuan Anh received Mr. Tan See Leng, Minister of Human Resources and Second Minister of Industry and Trade of Singapore.

Welcoming Mr. Tan See Leng to visit and work in Vietnam, Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh expressed his delight at the strong and extensive development of the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership in many fields, especially in economics, trade and investment; affirming that Vietnam always highly appreciates the role of Singapore as Vietnam's leading important economic partner in the region.

Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh stated that economic cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore is a bright spot in the bilateral relations between the two countries in particular and the ASEAN region in general, with total trade turnover between the two countries reaching over 9 billion USD in 2022, an increase of 10.1% compared to 2021.

Singapore also ranks first in ASEAN and second among all countries and territories investing in Vietnam, and the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has become a symbol of successful cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

Emphasizing that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large, Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh suggested that Singapore should promote major investment projects in Vietnam, especially in areas such as science and technology, innovation, green economic development, digital economy, digital transformation, eco-industrial parks associated with smart cities; and asked Singapore to share its experience in building investment policies to welcome the trend of production shift and reshaping the global supply chain.

The Head of the Central Economic Commission hopes that Mr. Tan See Leng, in his position, will continue to promote the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Singapore to develop more strongly, substantially and effectively.

Thanking the reception of Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh, Mr. Tan See Leng highly appreciated the development of the Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Partnership and said that Vietnam and Singapore still have much potential to further strengthen the bilateral economic relationship.

Singapore's Minister of Manpower and Second Minister of Trade and Industry also highly appreciated Vietnam's policies, orientations and achievements in economic development; highly agreed with the proposals of Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh, affirming that Singapore wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in many areas of mutual interest.
