Previously, on the first day of competition, the Vietnamese team won a gold medal in the creative team event for the over-17 age group thanks to Nguyen Thi Y Binh, Tran Phuong Nhung, Nguyen Thanh Hien Linh, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hy, Tran Dang Khoa, and Ho Thanh An. On the second day, the Vietnamese taekwondo team won an additional silver medal for the individual category of the U.40 age group, led by Nguyen Thi Le Kim.

This year's World Taekwondo Championship has 1,727 athletes from 77 countries and territories. The Vietnamese team participating has a large composition of 40 athletes and 7 coaches.
