Cooperatives connect to consume local agricultural products

With the desire to change the mindset of farming and find a sustainable direction for agricultural products, Manh Khoi Agricultural Cooperative, Muong Bu commune, actively innovated its activities, proactively linked production, and sought markets for local agricultural products.

In 2022, Mr. Nguyen Manh Toan mobilized 12 households in the commune to establish Manh Khoi Agricultural Cooperative, to build a production and consumption chain for people in the region. Mr. Toan shared: The Cooperative proactively sought out major cities and consumption centers to introduce products and find partners; with the support of the province, the Cooperative had the opportunity to participate in major trade fairs, thereby signing contracts with many strategic partners, expanding the export market for bananas and mangoes to China and Thailand.

Since the beginning of the year, the cooperative has purchased more than 600 tons of mangoes; 5-7 tons of fresh bananas/day, at prices ranging from 4,000 - 5,500 VND/kg. Agricultural products are distributed to wholesale markets, processing plants and exported. The cooperative's annual revenue reaches over 2 billion VND.

Mr. Lo Van Bui, from Cop village, Muong Bu commune, said: My family grows 6 hectares of bananas, with a yield of more than 40 tons. Previously, the output was unstable, making the whole family worried every time the bananas ripened. Since Manh Khoi Agricultural Cooperative stepped in to buy the products at a price of about 5,000 VND/kg, the products have been sold stably, bringing in an income of more than 200 million VND/year. Now, we can confidently produce.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Hiep, Vice Chairman of Muong Bu Commune People's Committee, commented: Muong Bu Commune was established on the basis of merging Muong Chum, Ta Bu, and Muong Bu communes. Currently, there are more than 3,400 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds, with an output of about 18-20 thousand tons/year. Manh Khoi Cooperative is playing a role in connecting the agricultural product consumption market for farmers, contributing to increasing income and fulfilling economic criteria, organizing production in building new rural areas.

Continuing to promote the linkage of production and consumption of agricultural products, Manh Khoi Agricultural Cooperative focuses on promoting products, expanding purchasing workshops and proactively seeking markets in provinces and cities across the country; linking with processing enterprises to consume agricultural products for people in the region... This is a solid foundation to help farmers in Muong Bu commune feel secure in production and getting rich in their homeland.
