After many efforts towards self-sufficiency in chips and operating systems, Huawei is rumored to launch its own image sensor. The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra series of phones may be the first mobile device to apply this new system.
Gizmochina quoted a source from Weibo Digital Chat Station, an account that often shares accurate leaked information from phone companies, saying that Huawei is currently developing its own CMOS image sensor (CIS).

Leaked information shows that Huawei is developing an image sensor system.
The two new camera sensors under development are codenamed SC5A0CS and SC590XS, which both have a 50-megapixel resolution and use Huawei's signature RYYB color filter (which enhances image quality in low-light conditions).
This is an alternative to the traditional RGB setup that most other smartphone sensors use.
The 50MP SC5A0CS telephoto module measures 1-inch and could serve as the primary camera in the upcoming Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.
The SC590XS is a bit smaller at 1/1.3 inches and could be a telephoto unit. What sets the SC590XS apart is the inclusion of Huawei’s new “SuperPixGain HDR2.0” technology.
Essentially, this technology combines three frames at the same exposure to improve dynamic range and reduce motion blur.

The current smartphone market still relies on sensor systems from Sony and Samsung due to their stability and proprietary technologies. However, Huawei is the only manufacturer promoting RYYB sensors and integrating them into its devices early.
Leaked information about these sensor systems shows that the famous Chinese phone company is gradually realizing its ambition to create flagship phones that are less dependent on external technology ecosystems.
