Hue warns against scams using cheap services.

Ahead of the peak tourist season, authorities in Hue City have issued a warning about tourism service scams, using tactics such as advertising cheap tours and making last-minute reservations to trick victims into paying deposits.

Accordingly, the common scam involves perpetrators creating fake social media pages and websites impersonating reputable travel companies and hotels, even using verified Facebook pages to gain trust. They then offer surprisingly cheap travel packages, accompanied by attractive advertisements to lure tourists.

When customers contact them, these scam groups will try to request a deposit transfer in advance under the pretext of "reserving a spot" or "receiving a special offer." After receiving the money, the scammers will cut off all contact.

In addition, instances of fraudulent ride-hailing and self-drive car rental applications have also been recorded. These individuals create applications and websites with interfaces similar to reputable apps, requesting users to provide personal information and bank card details for registration or verification, then hijacking accounts or using the information illegally.

The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Hue City Police has also issued a warning to residents and tourists about fraudulent schemes related to booking tourism services, especially in the context of the upcoming April 30th - May 1st holiday.

People need to be highly vigilant and absolutely refrain from transferring deposit money without clearly verifying the origin of the fan pages or websites providing services. Prioritize booking airline tickets, tours, and hotel rooms through reputable applications or companies with clear business addresses. This helps ensure your rights and minimize the risk of being scammed.

Additionally, it's necessary to carefully check the legal information of the service provider, read reviews from previous users, and contact the official hotline to verify the information.

If you suspect you have been scammed, report it immediately to the nearest police station for prompt assistance.

The Hue City Department of Tourism also issued several specific recommendations, including: Carefully checking information about service packages and comparing prices from various sources; not providing personal information or bank account details to unfamiliar websites or applications; being cautious of unusually cheap offers and advertisements on social media; only making payments after verifying all information and feeling confident; and retaining transaction evidence for resolution in case of problems.

Upon detecting any signs of fraud, tourists should immediately report it to the police or contact the Hue City tourism support hotline: 0234.3828288.

During this period, the authorities in Hue City will strengthen inspections and supervision of tourism business activities in the area to ensure a safe and healthy tourism environment for visitors during the upcoming holiday.

According to the head of the city's Department of Tourism, it is expected that the locality will welcome approximately 150,000 visitors during the April 30th - May 1st holiday, with estimated revenue of around 300 billion VND.
