Storm Ragasa is very strong, wide range of influence

On the night of September 22, super typhoon Ragasa entered the East Sea as storm number 9. At 10:00 a.m. on September 23, the center of super typhoon Ragasa was at about 20.2 degrees north latitude; 117.7 degrees east longitude, in the northeastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea.

The strongest wind near the center of the super storm is level 16 - 17 (184 - 221 km/h), gusting above level 17. The storm moves in a West Northwest direction at a speed of about 20 km/h.

Forecast until 10:00 on September 24, the storm will move in the West Northwest direction, speed 20 - 25km/h and gradually weaken, at position 21.7 degrees north latitude; 113.4 degrees east longitude; about 340km east of Leizhou peninsula (China). The strongest wind near the storm center is level 15 - 16, gusting above level 17. Dangerous area: North of latitude 18 degrees north; East of longitude 111 degrees east.

From the night of September 24 to the end of the night of September 26, in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, there will be heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100 - 250mm, locally over 400mm. Beware of heavy rain causing urban flooding. Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.

This is a very strong storm with a complex movement direction. To ensure the safety of life and property, people should not be subjective and follow the following recommendations:

For fishermen and boats at sea:

1. Regularly monitor the location and direction of the storm;

2. Determine the position of the vessel relative to the storm's affected area to promptly move to the nearest safe anchorage or escape from the danger zone;

3. Regularly communicate and inform the Border Guard and relevant authorities about the ship's location and number of people on board;

4. Absolutely do not steer the ship towards shore in the same direction as the storm;

5. Check the operating condition of the machine; strengthen watertight measures and firmly tie down the remaining positions on the deck to ensure safety;

6. Immediately withdraw the net; in case of emergency, the net may have to be cut off;

7. Prepare anti-puncture and anti-sinking tools for use when needed; Crew members wear life jackets to ensure safety in case of dangerous situations;

8. Maintain close contact with the coastal information station and inform other fishing vessels operating in the same area; comply with instructions from the authorities.

For communities, inland and coastal residents:

1. Monitor forecasts, warnings, and updates on storm and heavy rain developments to proactively prevent and avoid them.

2. Ensure safety of boats at anchorage, protect fishery cages and rafts; absolutely do not stay on moored boats, watchtowers, cages, rafts, or aquaculture areas when affected by storms.

3. Households living in areas at risk of floods, landslides, flash floods, proactively prevent and ensure safety according to the instructions of local authorities.

4. Proactively clear drainage systems near your home and residential area to create flood escape routes; notify the authorities when there are problems with drainage blockages or deep flooding; do not park in areas at risk of flooding; be on guard against flooding in apartment basements.

5. Reinforce livestock and poultry barns; take advantage of early harvest of agricultural and aquatic products.

6. Save the local rescue phone number, promptly and accurately inform the authorities of the location and dangerous situation in case of emergency, especially the 112 switchboard.

7. Comply with the direction of local authorities and competent agencies.
