Towards a safe and equal environment

Raising community awareness, changing prejudices, caring for material and spiritual life, protecting and caring for women and children, women's unions at all levels in our province have promoted propaganda associated with building models, mediation clubs, legal aid, towards a safe and equal environment.

Communication to improve knowledge and skills on preventing and combating domestic violence in Muoi Noi commune, Thuan Chau district.

The Women's Union of Na Loc village, Sop Cop commune, Sop Cop district has 56 members. Through the models of "Happy family, poverty reduction", "Family of 5 no's and 3 clean's", and the mediation club, members actively propagate, advise, and directly support issues related to preventing and combating domestic violence; taking care of women's and children's health; ensuring food hygiene and safety, environmental sanitation, etc.

Ms. Hoang Thi Huyen, Head of the Women's Association of Na Loc village, Sop Cop commune, said: Through club activities, we can grasp the thoughts, aspirations and circumstances of the women, in order to provide timely intervention measures when situations arise in the families of the members.

In Muoi Noi commune, Thuan Chau district, the Women's Union has been effectively maintaining the model of trusted addresses in the community, providing phone numbers of the Women's Union and the Commune Police to members, women, and people to provide information when detecting cases of domestic violence, especially against women and children. Ms. Quang Thi Duyen, President of the Women's Union of Muoi Noi commune, said: From 2024 to now, the commune's trusted address model has received 2 cases related to domestic violence. The Union has coordinated with the Commune Police and organizations to successfully consult and mediate the cases, contributing to limiting the occurrence of domestic violence.

Every year, the provincial Women's Union at all levels regularly propagates the prevention and control of domestic violence in direct forms, integrated into branch, group, association activities or via social networks such as Zalo and Facebook. From 2024 to present, the province has organized over 700 propaganda sessions on the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence, and the Law on Marriage and Family for more than 3,800 members, women, and people to attend.

Ms. Quang Thi Van, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, said: The unions at all levels focus on organizing activities to improve the capacity to deploy and maintain the effective operation of the models "Trusted Address"; "Leadership Club of Change"; community communication teams... From 2024 to present, 16 community communication teams have been launched in Phu Yen, Sop Cop, Song Ma districts; 3 "Trusted Addresses" in Thuan Chau, Bac Yen, Phu Yen districts; 5 communication campaigns have been organized to eliminate gender prejudice and stereotypes, build a safe living environment for women and children on "Changing thinking and doing" associated with preventing and responding to gender-based violence.

Women's Unions at all levels have effectively maintained 61 "Gender Equality Family" clubs, 139 "Building Happy Families" and "Families Raising Good Children" club models; "Groups of parents with children aged 0-8"; effectively maintained the grassroots mediator team, with 216 members, participating in timely intervention and mediation of domestic violence cases and conflicts occurring at the grassroots level.

In addition, the Provincial Women's Union has implemented many activities to support female members in economic development, have a stable source of income, and be confident in taking control of their lives, thereby reducing the risk of domestic violence. Directing women's unions at all levels in the province to receive over 1,900 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development for over 35,000 members to borrow for production investment; organizing 145 vocational training classes on cultivation and animal husbandry for over 2,000 members.

To build a safe and equal environment, women's associations at all levels continue to organize activities to provide knowledge about parentingeducation , how to care for and educate children about good traditional family values; mobilize men to participate in activities organized by the association, increase sympathy and sharing of husbands and fathers in the family. Regularly monitor, grasp, detect, and report to the authorities about domestic violence cases and promptly speak out about cases of women and children being abused, and set typical examples for propaganda and replication.
