Huong Hoa district has many famous revolutionary historical relics known to domestic and international tourists such as Lao Bao Prison, Ta Con Airport, Lang Vay Stronghold... In particular, the national-level relic Ta Con Airport associated with the Route 9 - Khe Sanh campaign has left its mark in history as the most disastrous defeat of the US army on the Vietnam battlefield in the 20th century. This is an advantage of Huong Hoa district to exploit and promote the value of relics in educating revolutionary traditions for the younger generation, while promoting the image and potential of culture, tourism, and promoting the socio -economic development of the locality.

Currently, in Huong Hoa district, there are 22 historical and cultural relics that have been ranked. Of these, there are 3 national relics: Lao Bao Prison, Lang Vay Base, Ta Con Airport and 19 provincial relics, which have been decentralized for management. In recent years, investment activities to preserve, restore and prevent degradation of the historical relic system in Huong Hoa district have received attention.
For typical local relics such as Ta Con Airport, Lao Bao Prison, and Lang Vay Base, investment has been made in building exhibition houses, relic grounds, monuments, and facilities to meet the needs of tourists and people for sightseeing , visiting, and paying tribute to heroic martyrs.
However, due to limited funding, not enough to meet the needs of a large number of historical relics in the district, the remaining relics have not yet been invested in, preserved, restored, and prevented from deteriorating. Some relics are at high risk of being lost. Implementing Resolution 167 of the Provincial People's Council on investing in preserving, restoring, and promoting the system of historical and cultural relics, from 2021 to present, the District People's Committee has directed the District Department of Culture and Information to coordinate with the Center for Monument Management and the Provincial Museum, communes and towns with relics, and the Branch of the District Land Registration Office to survey, measure, and draw relics according to the prescribed roadmap, with an annual budget of 60 million VND.
The work of promoting the relic system to educate the younger generation about revolutionary traditions, combined with tourism development, has made great strides. The number of tourists coming to visit, pay tribute to heroic martyrs, and revisit old battlefields is increasing.
The process of exploiting and promoting the historical and cultural relic system of Huong Hoa district is quite favorable because the area has many beautiful landscapes, cool climate suitable for historical and cultural tourism experiences combined with relaxation, exploring the culture of ethnic minorities. Huong Hoa district is located at the head of the bridge to Vietnam on the East-West Economic Corridor, has Lao Bao International Border Gate and trade activities with Laos and Thailand are quite vibrant, which is also a great advantage to attract tourists.
The attraction of the long revolutionary tradition and the cultural tradition of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups on the majestic Truong Son mountain range has become a unique feature that attracts many people to experience and explore. Anticipating that tourism trend, in the past 5 years, many businesses and investors have strongly developed community tourism types such as farmstay, homestay, flower gardens..., meeting the needs of tourists. The district also invested in building unique spiritual works, such as stupas, churches at the district's spiritual cultural area, Peak 689..., thereby attracting tourists to the locality. Recently, the number of family tourists coming to visit and experience culture in Huong Hoa has tended to increase sharply.
With its existing potential strengths, Huong Hoa district is focusing on implementing solutions to promote the value of historical and cultural relics combined with community tourism experiences, resort tourism, linking the promotion of the values of historical and cultural relics with tourism development, gradually turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, promoting local socio-economic development.
From the source of revolutionary historical traditions and unique cultural traditions of ethnic groups on the majestic Truong Son mountain range, Huong Hoa district is becoming an attractive destination, attracting a large number of tourists from near and far.
