The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a decision to temporarily ban passenger LVT (residing in Hoang Thanh commune, Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province) for smoking on flight VJ244SGN-THD on December 19, 2022 and not complying with the decision to sanction administrative violations in the field of civil aviation.
Mr. LVT was banned from flying for 9 months, from March 15 to December 14.

Passengers smoking on planes will be fined 3-5 million and considered banned from flying for 3-12 months.
Previously, after discovering and recording a report against Mr. T. for smoking on the plane, the aviation authorities issued a decision to impose an administrative penalty. However, after the deadline for paying the fine, the passenger in Thanh Hoa still did not comply with the decision to impose an administrative penalty despite being urged by the authorities.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires Vietnamese airlines and foreign airlines operating in Vietnam not to transport Mr. LVT on domestic and international flights departing from Vietnam during the above-mentioned prohibited period.
Regarding Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC, Van Don International Airport, the Department requests to direct affiliated units and departments to closely check and compare personal and identification documents of passengers using the aircraft to promptly detect and prevent Mr. LV T within the above deadline.
The Department assigned the Northern, Central and Southern Airports Authority to notify in writing the Police and Airport Customs for coordination; foreign airlines and enterprises providing ground technical and commercial services in the management area for implementation; inspect and supervise the implementation. At the same time, the Northern Airports Authority is requested to notify and send this decision to Mr. LVT.
According to Decree 162, smoking, including electronic cigarettes, on an airplane is punishable by a fine of 3-5 million VND. Before the plane takes off, flight attendants will inform passengers that smoking is not allowed on the plane. In addition to being fined, passengers who smoke on the plane may also be banned from flying for 3-12 months.
