A third consecutive forest fire has broken out in the coastal forests of Quang Tri province in recent days.

On the afternoon of May 28th, during the past week, a task force from the Quang Ninh Forest Protection Department (Quang Tri province) discovered a coastal forest fire.

Accordingly, the unit mobilized forces including local authorities, police, and military personnel to approach the fire and implement firefighting plans. More than 100 people, along with the support of the fire department and 4 specialized fire trucks, arrived at the scene.

However, due to the vast area, dense vegetation, hot weather, and strong southwest winds, the fire spread rapidly from Thuong Hau village to Ha Thiep village (Quang Ninh commune).

Mr. Le Van Tuy, a resident of Ha Thiep village who participated in fighting the fire, said he had never seen a forest fire erupt so fiercely. "The flames roared in the wind and engulfed the tops of acacia trees more than ten meters high," Mr. Tuy said.

Strong winds are causing the fire to spread rapidly. The area of ​​forest affected by the fire has increased to approximately 200 hectares. Dozens of hectares of large casuarina and acacia trees have already been burned to the ground.

By 7 PM that day, the fire was still not completely under control. Local forest fire prevention forces were continuing to cordon off the fire to prevent it from spreading and extinguish any blazes that had flared up in the direction of the wind.

Present at the scene, Mr. Tran Xuan Tinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh commune, said that forest firefighting forces are being reinforced. "We have mobilized four more pickup trucks carrying pumps and water tanks to reach deeper into the fire area. Four fire trucks will be on standby tonight to deal with any spreading of the fire," Mr. Tran Xuan Tinh said.

This is the third consecutive forest fire in the coastal forests of Quang Tri province within a week. Local authorities in Quang Tri province are on the highest alert for forest fire prevention. The extent of the damage caused by the fire has not yet been determined.
