Go Cong Dong District: Many bright spots in socio-economic development

From the beginning of 2024, the Party Executive Committee of Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province has focused on leading and directing all levels, sectors and localities to strictly and specifically implement key tasks and solutions for the first quarter of 2024 on socio-economic development. Since then, the district's socio-economic situation has continued to change strongly, achieving many positive results.

MANY POSITIVE RESULTS

According to the People's Committee of Go Cong Dong district, the year 2024 is very important, deciding the results of implementing the targets of the Resolution of the 12th Congress of Go Cong Dong District Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025.

The socio -economic situation of Go Cong Dong district has many bright spots in the first 3 months of 2024.

Chairman of Go Cong Dong District People's Committee Le Van Son said that in the first months of 2024, the district promptly removed difficulties and obstacles for businesses, creating favorable conditions for production and business activities; maintaining national defense - security and order, ensuring social security.

The district continues to pay attention to consolidating, arranging and assigning cadres, improving the quality of activities of organizations in the political system; promoting the building and rectification of the Party and the political system; resolutely preventing, repelling and strictly handling corrupt cadres and party members, negative acts, degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation"; promoting grassroots democracy regulations, promptly grasping developments in the ideology of cadres, party members, public opinion, proactively resolving complaints and denunciations right at the grassroots level, responding to the legitimate aspirations of the people...

After 3 months of implementing the tasks, the socio-economic situation of Go Cong Dong district continued to achieve positive results. Specifically, the value of industrial and handicraft production is estimated at 419 billion VND; budget revenue is 25,601 billion VND, reaching 22.2% of the plan. In the district, 4 new enterprises were established, bringing the total number to 277 enterprises. The district has a total of 18 cooperatives and 52 cooperative groups.

The agricultural production situation is favorable, crop and livestock productivity is maintained. In the 2023 - 2024 winter-spring rice crop, the whole district planted 8,794 hectares, harvested completely, the average yield was 7 tons/ha (dry rice), the average output reached 61,558 tons, reaching 110.9% of the plan (683 tons higher than in 2022 - 2023).

The traffic infrastructure is paved and concreted, making it convenient for people to travel and trade goods.

Food coloring has been planted on 2,433 hectares, with a cumulative total of 5,620 hectares and a cumulative harvest of 87,344 tons. The district continues to orient the development of key fruit trees including cherry, dragon fruit, custard apple, etc.

The total fruit tree area in the district is about 960 hectares, with a cumulative output harvested in the first quarter of 1,360 tons, equivalent to 2023, reaching 5.4% of the annual plan.

Total aquatic product output is 13,250 tons; the cumulative shrimp farming area to date is 86.5 hectares/86 households. The clam farming area is 2,200 hectares, in the quarter the harvest was scattered in some yards with an output of 2,540 tons, the cumulative is 2,540 tons. The fish farming area is 250 hectares, with a harvest of 59 tons. The marine exploitation output reached 10,741 tons...

The cultural and social sectors also have many positive changes. The Education and Training sector is stable. The Health sector continues to strengthen measures to prevent and combat dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease and infectious diseases. The district organizes many cultural and artistic activities to serve the entertainment needs of the people.

Social security activities, taking care of Tet for policy beneficiaries and poor households have been well implemented, creating consensus among the people. Communes and towns have actively mobilized benefactors to support with many forms of helping policy families, poor households... ensuring that 100% of beneficiaries are supported with Tet gifts, with a total budget of 3,144 billion VND. The district continues to mobilize the Children's Support Fund to support children with truly difficult circumstances in life...

DETERMINED TO REACH THE FINISHLINE OF ADVANCED NEW RURAL DISTRICT

In 2024, Go Cong Dong is determined to reach the finish line of an advanced new rural district. The district continues to guide the People's Committees of communes to review and develop a roadmap to strive to maintain communes that meet new rural/advanced new rural standards, and build Tan Hoa town and Vam Lang town to meet urban civilization standards by 2024.

Regarding the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, the district currently has 11 products and is guiding entities to complete documents to be certified as OCOP for the following products: Dried shrimp, fresh cherry, Vinh Loi fish sauce, Ngoc Thuan sausage, and Green Garden Tourist Area.

Regarding the progress of projects in the industrial park - cluster, Gia Thuan 1 Industrial Cluster has attracted 2 projects, the area filled is 11.7/40 ha, reaching 29%, continuing to call for investment. Gia Thuan 2 Industrial Cluster is implementing the construction of technical infrastructure, expected to be completed in 2024 and calling for secondary investors in 2025.

Soai Rap - Nam Song Hau Petro Oil and Gas Depot Project, the district has handed over the site to the investor, the Provincial People's Committee has decided to lease the land; the investor is requesting to adjust the project's Investment Registration Certificate...

Comrade Le Van Son said that in 2024, the district strives to well implement the 9 criteria of an advanced new rural district, contributing to Tien Giang province completing the target of building new rural areas by 2025.

Among the targets assigned by the province in socio-economic development, there are two very important tasks: completing the construction of the Tan Dong model new rural commune; completing the 9 criteria of an advanced new rural district.

The district has proposed solutions to carry out the tasks; in which, focusing on calling for investment, especially investment in Gia Thuan 1 and Gia Thuan 2 Industrial Clusters to fill over 50% of the area of the industrial cluster to achieve the standards of an advanced new rural district.

The district continues to call for investment from businesses in district projects to promote socio-economic development. In addition, the district focuses on developing and establishing new businesses in the area to increase capital sources for development in the district.

At the same time, focus on developing tourism in the district in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 11 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, term X, on tourism development in Tien Giang province to 2020 and orientation to 2030.

The District People's Committee will resolutely implement the remaining targets, especially the socio-economic development targets; in which, regarding budget revenue, the district will focus on budget revenue to ensure investment resources, and will invest in works and projects that the People's Council has proposed in 2024.
