Mai Chau District: Ensuring tourism security to become an attractive - friendly

As one of the bright spots on the national tourism map and one of the top choices of many international tourists when coming to Vietnam. To have this attraction, in addition to the factors of wild and majestic natural landscapes; unique and distinctive national cultural identity that is still preserved intact; gentle and friendly people... one of the important factors is the guaranteed security environment that has created the attraction of Mai Chau land.

Strengthening security posture in tourism activities

Chieng Chau has long been considered the core area, the tourist center of Mai Chau district, which is famous for Lac village - a community tourism destination known to many domestic and foreign tourists. According to Captain Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of Chieng Chau Commune Police, the whole commune currently has 103 accommodation establishments, of which 86 establishments are under the management of the Commune Police. As the "core" tourism area of the district, every year, tourist attractions in Chieng Chau welcome hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign visitors to visit and stay. Thanks to the good performance of state management of security and order (SOC), especially promoting the role of the masses in the movement "All people protect national security" (TDBVANTQ), over the past many years, Chieng Chau has always been a bright spot in ensuring SOC in general and ensuring tourism security in particular.

Accordingly, from 2024 to March 2025, there were no law violations in the commune. The police force coordinated with the commune's Military Command to organize 173 patrols and controls to ensure security and order in the area; coordinated with the Lac hamlet night market management board to ensure safety for tourists coming to visit and experience. Along with that, the commune police regularly inspected and propagated to 100% of accommodation service businesses to strictly comply with legal regulations in business lines with conditions on security and order; urged accommodation establishments to strictly declare their stay. In particular, after 5 grassroots security and order protection teams with 15 members in 5/5 hamlets were established and put into operation, they promoted their role well; coordinated effectively with the commune police force in ensuring security and order in the area.

As in Chieng Chau, the two Mong ethnic minority communes of Hang Kia and Pa Co have risen to become bright spots on the tourism map of the province and the Northwest region. The police force of the two communes has done a good job of advising local Party committees and authorities to effectively carry out state management of security and order; promoting the role of the masses in the movement for national security and order. Captain Vang A Hua, Deputy Head of Hang Kia Commune Police, said: In ensuring security and order at the grassroots level, the commune pays special attention to issues related to ensuring tourism security. By doing a good job of grasping the situation, grasping the area, and grasping the people, the police force has promptly detected and handled cases of security and order violations, preventing some subjects from taking advantage of tourism activities to illegally propagate religion, luring people to participate in illegal activities; consolidating the security posture in tourism activities...

Building a safe environment - the key factor

Mai Chau district currently has 146 tourist accommodation establishments, including 12 hotels, 28 motels and 103 homestays with a total of 555 rooms, 1 transport cooperative using electric cars to transport tourists in the tourist area with 30 vehicles; attracting 1,200 workers in the tourism sector.

In the district, there are 7 community tourism spots including: Ban Lac (Chieng Chau commune), Ban Buoc (Xam Khoe commune), Ban Van, Ban Pom Coong (Mai Chau town), Ban Hich (Mai Hich commune), Ban Pa Co (Pa Co commune) and Ban Hang Kia (Hang Kia commune), contributing to the economic restructuring, creating jobs and increasing income, improving people's lives, preserving the cultural identity of ethnic groups. In addition, the district attracts investment in developing many high-class resorts such as: Avana Resort, Mai Chau Lodge, Mai Chau Ecolodge, Ba Khan Village Resort, Mai Chau Hideaway Resort... creating high-quality tourism products, attracting high-spending tourists, increasing revenue.

According to statistics in 2024, Mai Chau district welcomed about 773,230 visitors for tourism and relaxation (a growth rate of 17.74%). Of which, there were 224,795 foreign visitors and 548,435 domestic visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 927,876 million (revenue growth of 37.88%). In the first 3 months of 2025, the district is expected to welcome tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors for tourism and relaxation. Particularly on the occasion of Mong Tet and Gau Tao festival of Mong ethnic group in Hang Kia and Pa Co communes, community tourism spots in Hang Kia and Pa Co welcomed nearly 4,000 overnight visitors; Gau Tao festival attracted over 10,000 visitors and people to visit and experience activities...
