Coach Vanenburg faces uncertain future |

Looking back at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, Mr. Thohir commented that U23 Indonesia performed quite well but still needed to improve, especially the sharpness of the attack. Since the big 8-0 victory over U23 Brunei, the team has had difficulty scoring goals.
The former Inter Milan president analyzed: “I think the whole team played well. But the attacking ability was not really optimal. We tried many diagrams, changed the deployment from the right wing to the left wing but many times it was not effective. Maybe we need to correct this point.”
Erick Thohir's statement that he has not yet decided on a head coach for the SEA Games opens up the possibility that Indra Sjafri will return to lead the team. Currently, Indra Sjafri is not leading any team. He has extensive experience in the SEA Games arena, especially his achievements at the 2023 tournament.
In other words, PSSI does not want to use coach Vanenburg in tournaments in the Southeast Asian region where there is a high possibility that they will meet U23 Vietnam again. Instead, this coach will compete in the Asian qualifiers where U23 Indonesia will meet Korea, Laos and Macau (China).
