iOS 26 will display the time it takes to charge the battery to 80% on the iPhone's lock screen. This is a feature that has long been available on Android smartphones (Photo: Apple).
At the WWDC 2025 event, Apple officially introduced iOS 26 with a series of notable upgrades. Notable among them are the transparent Liquid Glass interface style and the smart battery saving feature Adaptive Power.
The Adaptive Power feature is expected to optimize battery life, while providing users with detailed information about daily energy consumption.
Another new feature that also attracts attention is the ability to display the estimated time to fully charge the battery or charge to the limit (80%) right on the lock screen, helping users proactively arrange the time during the charging process.
However, this feature is no longer strange to Android users. On many Android phone models, the ability to estimate battery charging time has appeared for many years.
Not only that, iOS 26 also brings a series of features that Android has had for a long time:
Call Screening : Apple first introduced the feature of automatically answering calls from unknown numbers and recording the content so that users can decide whether to answer or not. However, Google integrated Call Screening into the Android operating system since 2018, and this feature has become standard on many Pixel devices.
Smart message filtering : iOS 26 will classify and move messages from unknown phone numbers into separate folders. This is also a function that Android has deployed since 2018 to limit spam.
Visual Intelligence : Apple first brought AI technology to the screenshot feature - allowing users to look up information from images through object, event, character recognition... However, Samsung phone users have experienced a similar feature since 2023 with AI smart search zoning technology.
Apple and Google learning from each other when it comes to developing their operating systems is nothing new. But with iOS 26, the trend is more evident than ever, as a number of features labeled “new” on the iPhone are actually standard on Android.
This raises a sobering question: Is the company that was once an icon of innovation in the tech industry becoming more of a follower than a leader? And in the current tech race, will the difference between iOS and Android be big enough for Apple to retain loyal users?
