Signs suggest that Apple is gearing up for the launch of AirTags 2, the successor to the compact tracker first introduced in April 2021.
Many leaked sources confirm that AirTags 2 will bring significant upgrades, turning this accessory into a more powerful positioning tool.

One of the most anticipated improvements is power efficiency. While it’s unclear what specific battery technology will be used, extended battery life is something first-generation AirTags users have been waiting for.
AirTags 2 is also expected to integrate a new generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip. This upgrade promises to significantly expand the operating range of the Precision Finding feature.
Currently, Precision Finding allows users to locate AirTags within 30 meters with intuitive directional arrows. With new UWB technology, AirTags 2 can provide precise orientation at distances of up to 90 meters, tripling the efficiency.
Additionally, AirTags 2 are expected to feature larger speakers for easier detection, improved pairing speeds, and more accurate location updates.
In terms of design, there is currently no information showing that Apple will refresh the appearance of AirTags 2. Therefore, it is likely that this device will retain the familiar compact design compared to its predecessor. AirTags 2 is expected to officially launch later this year.
