According to initial information from Sonny Dickson, a smartphone leaker, the new camera cluster on the iPhone 17 series will have significant differences between versions. On March 15th, Dickson further reinforced these views by publishing several photos of a metal frame with the same design as previously predicted.
Apple typically creates molds to provide to third-party case manufacturers to determine the dimensions of upcoming iPhone generations. However, Apple often avoids engraving the actual details to prevent the official prototype from being leaked.
According to Apple Insider , numerous images and videos circulating online suggest that the entry-level iPhone 17 model may feature a traditional dual-camera design with a flash on the left. Meanwhile, the two higher-end models are likely to have a new camera cluster design.
Specifically, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models will still feature three camera lenses on the back, with the flash and sensors separated on the right side. The thinner model, called the iPhone 17e or iPhone 17 Air, will have a single camera similar to the iPhone 16e.
In the leaked images, the camera on the iPhone 17e or Air protrudes significantly more than on other models. This could be due to the extremely thin design of this smartphone series, causing the camera to protrude noticeably compared to higher-end models.
Currently, leaked information about the iPhone 17 design is constantly changing. However, Dickson is someone who has correctly revealed the appearance of iPhone models before their release on several occasions. In April 2024, he correctly predicted the screen sizes of four iPhone 16 models.
In terms of specifications, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are expected to feature 12 GB of RAM, higher than the 8 GB in the iPhone 16 Pro. Additionally, some sources from China suggest that the two high-end models will utilize vapor chamber cooling technology to improve heat dissipation performance.
