Previously, the iPhone Air's release in the Chinese market was delayed because the smartphone only uses eSIM and lacks a physical SIM slot. Meanwhile, the Chinese government has strict regulations regarding devices that only support eSIM.

Mobile carriers and smartphone manufacturers wanting to offer eSIM or phone models without physical SIM slots in this market must obtain special licenses from the government. Now, Apple and carriers in China have finally obtained all the necessary licenses to sell the iPhone Air.
CEO Tim Cook personally traveled to China to prepare for the launch of the iPhone Air in the country, demonstrating that China remains a very important market for Apple.
The Chinese smartphone market declined by 3% year-on-year. In the third quarter, vivo rose to the top of the market with an 18% share. Huawei and Apple held 16% and 15% market shares respectively, followed by Xiaomi and OPPO.
The iPhone Air will have a starting price of 7,999 Yuan (approximately 29.5 million VND) in the Chinese market. During his visit, CEO Tim Cook also appeared in an Apple online sales livestream on the social media platform Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok).
