The Israeli military (IDF) announced on the morning of August 25 that it had deployed about 100 fighter jets to attack and destroy thousands of rocket launchers of the Hezbollah movement in southern Lebanon.

According to the IDF, these launchers were used to attack northern localities, some targeting central Israel.
Lebanese press reported on the same day that one of the Israeli attacks in the town of Khiam in southern Lebanon killed one civilian.
Earlier, the IDF said it had launched a preemptive strike on Hezbollah, after discovering that the movement was planning a large-scale attack using missiles and drones in the early morning of August 25.
Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz on the same day instructed Israeli ambassadors abroad to mobilize international support in the fight against Hezbollah, while emphasizing that the Jewish State does not want a full-scale confrontation with this movement.
Foreign Minister Katz said the Israeli military had detected Hezbollah's plans for a large-scale missile and drone attack on Israel and launched a preemptive strike. He asserted that Israel acted to protect its people and was not seeking an all-out war with Hezbollah.
Channel 12 TV on the same day quoted a high-ranking Israeli source also confirming that the Israeli government has no intention of launching a full-scale war with Hezbollah.
Speaking after an emergency Security Cabinet meeting on the morning of August 25 following a massive rocket and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack by the Hezbollah movement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed his "determination to do whatever it takes to protect the country."
Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed that he will continue to maintain the principle: Whoever threatens us, we will attack them.
