Saliba and Huijsen are two transfer targets of Real Madrid. |
According to Marca , Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Bournemouth's young talent Huijsen at this time. The report says the reigning La Liga champions will temporarily ignore Saliba because the 100 million euro price tag of this central defender is considered too expensive.
In recent meetings, Real's board of directors concluded that the team needed a new central defender. The name most mentioned was Huijsen. "Los Blancos" sent scouts to watch the Spaniard in Bournemouth's 2-1 win over Arsenal on May 3.
Real believe the 20-year-old's performances in the Premier League have been impressive, and Huijsen's £50m release clause is seen as reasonable, especially when compared to what Arsenal are asking for Saliba.
In contrast, Real's plan is to approach Saliba next summer for a much lower price, or possibly sign him for free in 2027. To counter this Real strategy, Sporting Director Andrea Berta has stepped up efforts to extend the French centre-back's contract.
In addition to Real, Huijsen is a target for other Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Liverpool, along with Bayern Munich. However, Huijsen is said to prefer to join Real Madrid when the opportunity arises.
