Expanding connection to exploit the Taiwanese (China) tourist market

A famtrip delegation of Taiwanese (Chinese) travel agencies recently had a survey trip to Khanh Hoa tourism . Taiwanese travel agencies highly appreciated the products of Agarwood, as well as the opportunity to expand cooperation in organizing tours to bring tourists to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.

At the invitation of Hoang Tra Tourism and Trading Company Limited, a famtrip delegation of Taiwanese travel agencies (22 people) came to survey tourism in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa from October 20 to 25. During the program, the delegation surveyed resorts in Bai Dai (Cam Lam district) and Nha Trang city, visited Vinwonders Nha Trang entertainment area and historical sites - scenic spots in Nha Trang city such as: Ponagar Tower, Hon Chong, Cathedral... In particular, the delegation spent a lot of time surveying KN Golf Links Cam Ranh golf courses, Vinpearl golf course (Hon Tre island), Diamond Bay Nha Trang golf course to organize golf tours for Taiwanese tourists.

On the evening of October 24, Khanh Hoa Tourism Promotion Information Center coordinated with Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association to organize a Gala Dinner at Champa Island Nha Trang Tourist Area to welcome the Taiwanese travel agency famtrip delegation, introduce typical tourism products of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, creating opportunities for Taiwanese tourism companies to interact and exchange information with Khanh Hoa tourism companies. Speaking at the Gala Dinner, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Permanent Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association introduced the strengths and typical tourism products of Agarwood land, expressing his desire to connect with Taiwanese travel agencies to promote the exploitation of tours bringing Taiwanese tourists to Khanh Hoa and vice versa.

After 5 days of surveying, the Taiwanese famtrip delegation expressed their impression of the tourism products and services of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. Mr. Vuong Tien Bao (Boger Wang) - Director of Lion Travel Company (one of the major travel agencies in Taiwan) expressed: “I really like Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. The hotels and resorts here are all very good, high quality service; the beach is very beautiful... The food here is also very delicious, I especially love eating Vietnamese pho. I think Taiwanese tourists will really enjoy coming here to travel. In the near future, we will step up promotion to attract more Taiwanese tourists to Nha Trang”. Similarly, many members of the famtrip delegation also highly appreciated the quality of tourism services in the land of Agarwood. “After 4 years, I have just returned to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. I am really surprised and happy because tourism here has recovered very quickly after the Covid-19 pandemic. There are many new resorts and entertainment venues, the golf courses of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa are very beautiful, the cuisine here is also very diverse and rich, suitable for the taste of Taiwanese people, especially the seafood is very delicious. This is a very worthy place for us to bring Taiwanese tourists to travel and relax", said Mr. Tony Tsai - representative of Hong Yi Travel Co., Ltd. in Taipei, Taiwan. Joining the famtrip group, Ms. Li Ying - Director of Lady G women's Golf Club (Taipei, Taiwan) highly appreciated the golf courses of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa after experiencing playing golf at KN Golf Links Cam Ranh, Vinpearl golf course, Diamond Bay golf course. In the near future, Ms. Li Ying plans to organize a tour combined with a golf tournament for members of the Lady G women's golf club. This female golfer also believes that the Vinpearl tourist complex on Hon Tre island is very suitable for family vacations for Taiwanese tourists...

Need to add more flights

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism, the Taiwanese (Chinese) tourist market has great potential. Taiwan has nearly 24 million people, with an average income per capita of nearly 34,000 USD/person/year. Every year, a large number of Taiwanese tourists travel, with quite high spending levels. Currently, Taiwan is the third largest international tourist market for Vietnamese tourism. According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, from the beginning of the year to the end of September 2024, Vietnam welcomed 953,805 Taiwanese visitors, an increase of 65.8% over the same period in 2023. Taiwanese visitors love beach resorts, golfing, etc., which are strengths of Khanh Hoa. Therefore, the provincial tourism industry is aiming to promote attracting Taiwanese visitors in the coming time.

Regarding the promotion of the Taiwanese tourist market, Taiwanese travel companies believe that the biggest limitation is still the flight route. Currently, only Vietjet Air operates charter flights from Taipei and Taichung (Taiwan) to Cam Ranh with 12 flights/month. Vietjet's flights from Taiwan to Cam Ranh do not have business class seats. According to information from Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company, from January 2025, Tigerair Taiwan will operate charter flights from Taiwan to Cam Ranh with a frequency of 3 flights/week.

To attract Taiwanese tourists in the coming time, the provincial tourism industry needs to coordinate with airlines to increase flights to Khanh Hoa, especially Taiwanese airlines such as Starlux Airlines, Tigerair Taiwan... Regarding this issue, Ms. Ho My Lan - Head of Operations of Hoang Tra Tourism and Trading Company Limited in Nha Trang said: "The Taiwanese tourist market is developing very well, however, due to limitations in flight routes, the number of Taiwanese tourists to Khanh Hoa is not much. Currently, each month, the company brings about 1,500 Taiwanese tourists to Khanh Hoa for vacation. Guests often stay 4-5 nights at 5-star hotels and resorts on Hon Tre Island and the center of Nha Trang City. A few guests play golf and relax in Bai Dai (Cam Lam)... According to the plan, in the near future, the company will invite leaders of Starlux Airlines to survey Khanh Hoa tourism to open a flight route from Taiwan to Cam Ranh in early 2025. Starlux Airlines is an airline “Starlux Airlines has high quality service, so Taiwanese tourists love to travel on its flights. If Starlux Airlines agrees to open a route from Taiwan to Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa will certainly attract a lot of Taiwanese tourists.”
