According to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Da Nang Museum is one of the city's typical cultural institutions, with the function of preserving, honoring and promoting the traditional historical and cultural values of the land and people of Da Nang in particular, and Quang Nam in general.

In 2019, Da Nang City decided to use the City Hall (built from 1898 - 1900, during the French colonial period called the Governor's Office, after March 29, 1975 it was the headquarters of the People's Committee and then the People's Council of Da Nang City) as the Da Nang Museum.

The museum currently displays nearly 3,000 documents and artifacts on an area of about 3,000m2 , including 45 topics, suggesting and guiding the public to visit, experience, and learn about the nature - social history, and aspirations of Da Nang City.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City calls on people, agencies, units, associations, organizations, researchers, collectors... to donate artifacts to the Da Nang Museum to preserve, conserve, and promote better the cultural heritage values of the locality and the nation in general; at the same time, meet the increasing cultural enjoyment needs of the public.
