On April 21, Thairath reported that Thai police held a press conference to inform about the progress of the investigation into the case of singer Gigi Supitcha and her ex-boyfriend Nat Phumphat Chaiwanichaya who died at their home.
General Damrongsak Kittiprapphat said the cause of the tragic murder was most likely a love affair. In a fit of anger, the man shot his girlfriend and then committed suicide. According to Damrongsak Kittiprapphat, traces of gunpowder were found on the man’s body.
However, to make a final conclusion, the authorities are still waiting for the results of the forensic examination and the testimony of Nat Phumphat Chaiwanichaya's family. The male victim's family has requested a postponement of the investigation to arrange for the funeral of their son.

According to the authorities, the gun in evidence was initially identified as belonging to the victim's father. He is a former commander of the Royal Thai Army. Therefore, the police are clarifying how Nat Phumphat Chaiwanichaya obtained the gun to commit the crime. General Damrongsak Kittiprapphat did not rule out the possibility that the gun's owner will be prosecuted for negligence in storing high-damage weapons.
In response to public suspicions that Nat Phumphat Chaiwanichaya faked his own death to escape murder charges, Mr. Damrongsak Kittiprapphat denied it. He said that at the time of the incident, CCTV footage did not record any third person entering or leaving the scene.
The identity of the male body was confirmed to be Nat Phumphat Chaiwanichaya. The forensic report also determined that the victim had a bullet lodged deep in his skull, leading to severe bleeding and death. Since the male victim was under 18 years old, police warned that those who spread false information could face criminal charges for defaming the deceased.
On the Bangkok Post , Gigi Supitcha's father said he had filed a lawsuit, demanding that Nat Phumphat Chaiwanichaya's family take responsibility for his daughter's death. After the incident, the male victim's parents also called to apologize and promised appropriate compensation.
