Recently, a video of a foreign guest enjoying two cups of Vietnamese iced milk coffee in just 10 minutes has attracted the attention of the online community. This clip received nearly 720,000 views with 31,000 likes, and more than 700 comments expressing excitement and pride in Vietnamese coffee.
Sharing about the situation in the video, Mr. Vu Ngoc Son (33 years old, from Tuyen Quang), currently a tour guide, the owner of the clip said: “I lead foreign tours to visit Hanoi and some provinces in the North. In Hanoi, I often take guests to enjoy dishes such as: Bun cha, pho, banh mi, cha ca, banh cuon, ... to introduce the culinary culture, drink coffee, iced tea on the sidewalk. That day, I took the Mexican guests to drink iced milk coffee.”
In the video is Mr. Carlos Tigerina (born in 1962, from Mexico) currently living and working in the US. Mr. Carlos shared in the clip that he had never enjoyed iced milk coffee before. After taking a sip, he praised this coffee as being better than those from the US, Mexico and Colombia.
In 10 minutes, Mr. Carlos enjoyed 2 cups of iced milk coffee. He commented: “This coffee is so delicious. The only problem is that I drank it a bit too fast. I should have drunk it slowly because that way I would have felt its delicious taste more clearly.”
Through his tours, Mr. Son has heard many shares from foreign guests about the coffee drinking culture in their country. “In some countries, people often drink coffee when they are in the office or when they have breakfast. They use this drink to stay alert and reduce stress, so they often drink it quickly in just a few minutes and then return to work. In Vietnam, it is different, we have a coffee culture where we enjoy this drink slowly while chatting with friends. In addition, the taste of Vietnamese coffee is also stronger," the 9X tour guide said.
As for Jordy Trachtenberg, an American who has lived in Vietnam for nearly 4 years, he believes that Vietnamese coffee is the best in the world. The American man has had many experiences with food and drinks in countries around the world. Before coming to Vietnam, Jordy drove around the states in the US, traveled to Europe, China, and Japan. In Southeast Asia, he lived in Bangtao (Thailand) and Phnom Penh (Cambodia) for 2 years.
Jordy shared: “I have read and watched many articles and videos reviewing Vietnamese cuisine on TikTok and Youtube. Even before trying any dish in Vietnam, I have researched it thoroughly. I really like the cuisine of this country.”
Jordy expressed his love for Vietnamese coffee, saying that nowhere else has such delicious coffee and such a wide variety of coffee. Jordy said: “When I came to Vietnam, I immediately ordered a cup of iced milk coffee. In nearly 4 years of living in Ho Chi Minh City, I have enjoyed quite a few types of coffee such as: Bac Xiu, iced milk, coconut coffee, ... and many other coffee-based drinks such as: Coffee yogurt, coffee avocado smoothie, ...
In my opinion, Vietnamese coffee has a very strong flavor, you should enjoy it slowly to fully appreciate the flavor. Enjoying this drink many times, I gradually realized that Vietnamese coffee drinking culture is really interesting"
Jordy often goes to the cafe to enjoy coffee in the morning and afternoon. He shared that the cafe he often goes to in the morning is a small local cafe. “In the early morning, many elderly people often gather here. I come to enjoy coffee and chat with my friends. This makes me feel like I am part of the neighborhood. I really like egg coffee, this coffee is beautiful and wonderful,” the American man confided.
In the afternoon, Jordy often drinks iced coffee or iced milk coffee. “I like the feeling of sitting on a red chair on the sidewalk, slowly enjoying coffee while watching the bustling people passing by,” the American man shared.
Vietnamese coffee has also received many positive reviews and feedback from foreign articles and websites. According to the review updated in mid-March by Taste Atlas, a website known as the world culinary map. With 4.6/5 points, Vietnamese iced milk coffee is tied with Italy's Ristretto in the top position of the list of the 10 best coffees in the world.
