Opening of the Francophone Youth Forum in Asia

On the morning of September 11, in Hanoi , the 2024 Asia-Pacific Francophone Youth Forum with the theme "Employment, creativity and innovation - the heart of Francophone in Asia-Pacific" officially opened.

The forum was organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth in coordination with the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the Francophone University Organization (AUF).

Attending the event were Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth Bui Quang Huy; Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth Nguyen Tuong Lam.

On the OIF and AUF side, there were Mr. Edgar Doerig, OIF Regional Representative for Asia-Pacific; Mr. Kaloyan Kolev, Head of Programs, OIF Regional Office for Asia-Pacific; Professor Nicolas Maïnetti, AUF Regional Director for Asia-Pacific.

In his opening speech, the First Secretary of the Central Youth Union and Chairman of the National Committee for Vietnamese Youth said that since joining the Francophone community in 1979, Vietnam has made its mark as an active member and made many important contributions to strengthening the community's position in the international arena.

With a diversified and multilateral foreign policy, Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperative relations with the Francophone community. The Central Youth Union and the National Committee for Vietnamese Youth identify youth as an important group with a mission to contribute to the strong and substantial development of relations between member countries of the Francophone community in general, as well as the cooperative relations between the Central Youth Union, the National Committee for Vietnamese Youth and the Conference of Francophone Ministers of Youth and Sports (CONFEJES) in particular.

According to comrade Bui Quang Huy, in recent times, the Central Youth Union and the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth have actively participated in the CONFEJES mechanism: completing the annual fee payment; closely cooperating with CONFEJES to organize activities for youth such as sending Vietnamese youth to participate in forums, conferences, and trainings within the framework of CONFEJES, and hosting CONFEJES activities in Vietnam.

Highly appreciating the theme of this year's forum, the First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth expressed: "When it comes to the phrases employment, creativity, innovation, and startups, most of us think of young people first and I think that the theme of this year's forum is very suitable for young people in the context of the fourth industrial revolution, the sharing economy and the current COVID-19 pandemic, when innovation has become the main driving force and the most suitable national development strategy of countries.

Delegates from the host country Vietnam are all fluent in French, have knowledge and experience related to the Forum's topics; have ideas to propose projects in the fields of innovation, creativity; art or economics.

For Vietnam, in this period, we identify the development of innovation together with science and technology as the top national policy, playing a strategic breakthrough role; the main driving force to promote growth. Contributing to the implementation of the country's overall strategy. In recent times, the Central Youth Union and Vietnamese youth organizations have implemented many useful programs and solutions to promote start-ups and innovative start-ups among young people.

The 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022 - 2027, identified the breakthrough task of the term as the extensive implementation of the "Youth Start-up" program, especially creative start-ups. The focus is on developing the start-up capacity of Vietnamese youth at home and abroad, participating in creating an environment to support young people to start up to develop the country on the basis of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

As an active member of the Francophone Community, Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting international exchange and cooperation, especially in areas where young people can fully develop their abilities and creativity. For the Francophone Community in general and Vietnam in particular, young people are always the core force in promoting innovation, creativity and social integration.
