Opening Ceremony of the 2025 International Police and Law Enforcement Volleyball Tournament

On the evening of August 26th, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with relevant agencies, inaugurated the 2025 International Police and Law Enforcement Volleyball Tournament at the National Defense Sports and Gymnasium II, Military Region 7 (Ho Chi Minh City).

Attending the opening ceremony were: Senior General Nguyen Truong Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security ; Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Vu Hong Van; Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong; Lieutenant General Mai Hoang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department….

On the international side, attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Bun Khunny, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Aulia Raihan, representative of the Indonesian Consulate; Mr. Phonesy Bunmixay, Consul General of Laos; and Colonel Khone xi, Head of the Lao Ministry of Public Security's representative office in Vietnam.

In his opening remarks, Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, emphasized that the 2025 International Police and Law Enforcement Volleyball Tournament is one of the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Force (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025); and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for Protecting National Security.

"With the sporting spirit of 'Unity - Honesty - Nobility,' the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam hopes that the tournament will foster solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and countries in the region and around the world in general, and between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the police forces of other countries in particular."

Through cultural and sports exchanges, we contribute to promoting cooperative relations between the police forces of various countries in ensuring security and order, combating crime, especially transnational crime, in the spirit of international friendship, responsibility for the community, and for peace, security, safety, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.

The tournament also provides an opportunity for volleyball players from both domestic and international teams to gain experience, improve their professional skills and competitive spirit, and build a foundation for future competitions.

“I believe that the 2025 International Police Volleyball Tournament will leave a strong impression on international friends about the beautiful country and people of Vietnam, rich in cultural identity, friendly, hospitable, and always peace-loving,” said Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham The Tung.

The tournament featured 6 teams, bringing together over 150 athletes from 4 Southeast Asian countries (Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, and host country Vietnam), competing in 11 matches over 5 consecutive days.

The six participating teams were: the People's Police (with the Ho Chi Minh City Police volleyball team as the core); the Army (The Cong Tan Cang); Hanoi (Hanoi Club); the Lao Ministry of Public Security team; the Cambodian Ministry of Interior team (Visakha); and the Indonesian Police team (Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi Club).

Regarding the prize structure, First Prize: Trophy, Gold Medal and a cash prize of 10,000 USD; Second Prize: Silver Medal, cash prize of 8,000 USD; Third Prize: Bronze Medal, cash prize of 5,000 USD; Style Award: 3,000 USD and Outstanding Individual Award: 300 USD/person.

The closing match will be held at 5 PM on August 30th.
