Athletes competing in combat sports.
The tournament brought together nearly 100 athletes from 10 Taekwondo clubs in Kien Giang province. The athletes competed in both poomsae (forms) and sparring events.
According to Comrade Tran Nguyen Ba - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province, Head of the organizing committee, the Kien Giang Provincial Taekwondo Championship is held annually to evaluate the training and practice of Taekwondo in the province, and to discover and select outstanding athletes for further training and development to supplement the provincial Taekwondo team.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, athletes competed in the men's and women's sparring events.
The 2023 Kien Giang Provincial Taekwondo Tournament is part of the 15th Kien Giang Province Khmer Ethnic Group's Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival in 2023.
