Mr. Mohamad Awamleh, President of the Asian Wrestling Federation, spoke at the opening ceremony of the Asian U17 & U23 Wrestling Championship.
The tournament was organized by the Vietnam Sports Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the World Wrestling Federation, the Asian Wrestling Federation, the Vietnam Wrestling Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. The tournament attracted a large number of delegates from more than 24 countries and territories, especially the participation of 1,000 promising young athletes who will contribute to the top competitions in the coming days.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Mohamad Awamleh, President of the Asian Wrestling Federation, emphasized that this is a historic event - the first time Vietnam has hosted the Asian Wrestling Championship. The tournament is of great significance in developing the wrestling movement in Asia, and is also an opportunity for athletes to exchange, learn, and accumulate valuable experience. Mr. Mohamad Awamleh expressed his sincere thanks to the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, the Organizing Committee, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province for their warm welcome and careful preparation for the tournament.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, said that the Asian U17 & U23 Wrestling Championship is a major sports tournament. Bringing international sports tournaments to the locality has long been a desire of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. When international sports tournaments are held locally, it will contribute to the development of the local economy , contributing to promoting the image of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in particular, and Vietnam in general to the world. These will be extremely effective channels for promoting and advertising tourism. "We will continue to build relationships and improve facilities to meet the increasing number of international sports tournaments," Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien emphasized.
According to the Organizing Committee, up to now, the organization of the tournament has been carried out carefully and professionally, ensuring security, safety, environmental sanitation, and medical services according to international standards. Athletes and international guests will stay at high-class hotels, with logistics and security services meeting international standards. The tournament promises to create a healthy and attractive playground, promoting the spirit of solidarity and exchange between countries. This is a golden opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its ability to organize large-scale sporting events, while introducing the cultural and tourism beauty of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in particular and Vietnam in general to international friends.
Representatives of the World Wrestling Federation and the Asian Wrestling Federation presented souvenirs to representatives of the Vietnam Sports Department and leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
The tournament includes Olympic Wrestling and Beach Wrestling events, held on three international standard arenas. Each weight class will have 1 athlete competing in Olympic Wrestling and a maximum of 3 athletes in Beach Wrestling.
The Asian U17 & U23 Wrestling Championship lasts until June 28, promising to bring eye-catching competitions.
