According to the leaders of the Da Nang City People's Committee, diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea have achieved many important accomplishments in almost all fields. Currently, South Korea ranks first in foreign direct investment (FDI); second in development cooperation, tourism and labor; and third in trade cooperation in Vietnam.
In Da Nang City, Korean partners have invested in many large projects in the fields of ICT, high technology, and automation, and are actively supporting the city in developing the semiconductor, microchip, artificial intelligence, and high-quality service industries.

In particular, for many years, South Korea has been a leading international tourist market in Da Nang. In the first six months of 2024, the total number of South Korean tourists staying in the city reached nearly 823,000, almost equaling the total number of South Korean tourists to Da Nang in 2023, which was 935,000.
According to Mr. Kang Boo Sung, Consul General of South Korea in Da Nang City, in 2023, bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded US$76.1 billion, making Vietnam South Korea's third largest trading partner. South Korea is currently the largest investor in Vietnam with a cumulative investment of US$85.9 billion.

In terms of people-to-people exchanges, the number of South Koreans visiting Vietnam last year reached approximately 3.6 million, and the number of Vietnamese people traveling to South Korea is also steadily increasing. With this growth rate, the role of the central region of Vietnam, centered around Da Nang City, is becoming increasingly important.
“The Consulate General of Korea in Da Nang will always cooperate closely with Da Nang City and make every effort to expand the scope of cooperation into new areas such as high-tech industrial cooperation, business and university cooperation, while firmly consolidating the foundation for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the future.”

"I believe that the Vietnam-Korea Festival is a valuable opportunity for the people of Korea and Vietnam to gain a deeper understanding and strengthen their feelings for each other through positive exchanges in people, culture, and economy. During the event, I hope that many Vietnamese people, especially those in Da Nang, will have the opportunity to experience the diverse Korean culture, such as Korean cuisine and K-Pop, as well as experience the wonderful products from Korean businesses, thereby building friendship and understanding of Korea and its people," said Mr. Kang Boo Sung.
During the three days of the festival (August 16-18), many unique cultural exchange activities will be organized, such as a Vietnamese-Korean cooking competition using ingredients imported from Jeju Island; a Vietnamese-Korean art talent competition for young people; and traditional Vietnamese-Korean games.

Alongside this, 60 booths showcasing information, culture, cuisine, tourism, and traditional and modern art performances from art troupes of both countries promise to provide a wonderful experience for those who love Vietnamese and Korean culture.
The Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City was first held in 2015 and 2016, then temporarily postponed. In 2022, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea, the Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City was revived and has become an annual foreign affairs event for the city.
