(CLO) The National Music and Dance Festival, held every three years, has established itself as a national brand among music and dance festivals in Vietnam.
On the evening of November 21st, the first phase of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival officially opened at the Vinh Phuc Provincial Theater. The festival brings together nearly 1,000 artists, performers, and technicians from across the country to compete.
The first phase of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival was originally scheduled to be held from September 7th; however, due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi ), the festival was postponed and will now be held from November 21st to 30th.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong emphasized that the National Music and Dance Festival, held every three years, has established itself as a national brand among music and dance festivals in Vietnam.
This is an opportunity for artists and performers working in the fields of singing, dancing, and music to showcase their talents and creative aspirations, continue to nurture their passion for their profession; and at the same time, to exchange experiences, improve their professional skills.
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized that the National Music and Dance Festival is one of the bases for state management agencies to accurately assess the current state of performing arts activities, propose operational methods for each stage; thereby guiding art, finding solutions to overcome limitations and weaknesses; and promoting the development of the performing arts field.
The 2024 National Music and Dance Festival features the participation of 13 art troupes. Each troupe will present one program or performance lasting from 60 to 110 minutes. The festival offers a wide variety of art forms, including mixed music and dance; and Western art forms (symphony, opera, ballet, oratorio, Broadway, opera, etc.).

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will award Gold and Silver Medals to collectives and individuals with high-quality and innovative programs and performances; and award Excellence Prizes to artistic directors, program/performance directors, orchestra conductors, composers, choreographers, painters, costume designers, principal singers, principal dancers, principal musicians, etc.
Following the opening ceremony, the Viet Bac Folk Music and Dance Theatre performed their competition entry, the musical "Going Towards the Sun".
The first round of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival will take place at the Vinh Phuc Provincial Theater (Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province) and will be open to the public free of charge.
