Pursuant to Decision No. 741/QD-UBND dated April 5, 2021 of the People's Committee of Lang Son province on approving the Project "Preserving and promoting the value of lion dance of Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Lang Son province for the period 2021-2030"; Plan No. 64/KH-SVHTTDL dated March 11, 2025 of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on implementing the Project to Preserve and promote the value of lion dance of Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Lang Son province in 2025 .
On April 8, 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Son district and related departments and units to organize a class to teach Tay and Nung ethnic lion dance in Bac Son district .
Lion dance Lion dance is a traditional folk art form often performed during festivals and New Year of the Tay and Nung people in Lang Son. However, in Bac Son district today, not many people know how to dance lions, perform acts associated with lion dances and are at risk of being lost. Therefore, organizing classes to teach practical skills and perform lion dances of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups is a practical and meaningful activity to preserve and pass on to future generations the unique values, imbued with humanity, good customs and practices on the cultural lifestyle of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in today's society ; gradually forming and improving the quality of activities, practical skills, and performing lion dances of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups to ensure continuity, moving towards forming clubs or models of folk cultural activities in the locality .
Mr. Luu Ba Mac, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the organizing committee of the teaching class, delivered the opening speech.
Lion dance class with 40 students who are physical education teachers at schools in Bac Son district and Students of the Bac Son District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities promise to become the core members of the district, actively participating in performances and developing the Tay and Nung ethnic lion dance heritage in the community, especially gradually forming cultural and tourism products to serve the people and tourists visiting the locality./.
