Solemn opening of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union

(CPV) - On the morning of December 18, 980 delegates attended the solemn session of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union , term 2024 - 2029. General Secretary To Lam attended and delivered an important speech.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party and State attended the solemn session of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union.

Also attending were former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh; former Politburo member, former Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

Party Central Committee Secretaries: Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army Trinh Van Quyet.

Members of the Party Central Committee: Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Mai Van Chinh; Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh; Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.

In his opening speech, Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Tuong Lam stated that after more than 68 years of establishment and development, under the leadership of the Party, with the core political role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation is increasingly worthy of being a broad social organization of young people and patriotic Vietnamese youth organizations following Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the ideals of the Communist Party of Vietnam, uniting all classes of Vietnamese youth at home and abroad to strive for the ideal of national independence and socialism, for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, for the happiness and progress of young people.

Looking back over the past 5 years with the spirit of "Vietnamese Youth being patriotic, creative, volunteering, integrating and developing", we can happily report to the congress on the growth of the Association's work and the youth movement nationwide. Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the deep concern, support and facilitation in all aspects of the Party and State for the youth, the Association's chapters at all levels have made efforts, promoted creativity and responsibility to successfully implement the goals and solutions of the Association's work and the youth movement set forth by the 8th Congress, term 2019 - 2024.

The movement “I love my Fatherland” has been widely deployed, has strong appeal and spread, is truly a flag of encouragement, urging, calling on many classes of youth, creating an environment for youth to practice, experience, promote the spirit of shock, volunteerism, and creativity of youth. The work of uniting ethnic minority youth, religious youth, and young workers has made great efforts and achieved certain results. Many new, typical and advanced factors among youth have been discovered and honored, contributing to creating a beautiful image of Vietnamese youth in the new era.

Excited about the results achieved, but those working in the Association, those who are assigned the responsibility of uniting, gathering, supporting and promoting the youth, cannot help but worry and ponder about the shortcomings and limitations that require us to overcome in order to make the Association stronger, truly meet the trust and expectations of the youth, truly be the flag, the common home, the great friend of Vietnamese youth.

In the context of the country's new circumstances, opportunities and fortunes, Vietnamese youth, with the role of "being the ones who provide revolutionary support to the previous revolutionary generation, and at the same time being in charge of and guiding children and teenagers - the future generation of youth", as a force "with great honor also has great responsibility", must continue to be the pioneering force, leading the charge in the era of breakthrough and accelerated development under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary To Lam, successfully building a socialist Vietnam that is prosperous, strong, democratic, equitable, civilized, prosperous and happy; standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as the wish of beloved President Ho Chi Minh.

Patriotism is always present in the hearts of every young person and needs to be strongly aroused; the aspiration for a strong and prosperous Vietnam that urges every young person every day and every hour needs to be realized with sweat and intelligence; the fundamental strength from the spirit of great solidarity needs to be constantly consolidated, the pioneering spirit, daring to commit, and willingness to share of every young person needs to be oriented and promoted; the creativity and innovation of young people need to have an environment to promote and develop. Patriotism - aspiration - solidarity - pioneering - creativity will be the luggage for young people to be self-reliant, confident, independent, self-reliant, and proud to enter a new era with the whole nation, an era of prosperity and development. These are big questions from reality that require delegates attending this Congress to focus their intelligence and enthusiasm on discussing, in order to have appropriate solutions for the next term.

980 official delegates are cadres, members, and outstanding youth in various fields at home and abroad.

Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Tuong Lam said that over the past time, the organization and Vietnamese youth have always received the attention and direction of the Party and State leaders, the affection and special trust of the General Secretary; the orientation of the Central Committee of the Youth Union; the dedicated and responsible guidance of the central departments, ministries, branches and organizations; the attention and facilitation of the Party committees and authorities at all levels. The emulation movements of youth at home and abroad have created momentum and a vibrant atmosphere for us to confidently enter the new term.

Especially in the process of preparing the document, the Vietnam Youth Union received many valuable and profound comments and contributions from leaders, former leaders, revolutionary elders, managers, scientists, journalists, National Assembly deputies, educators, union and association officials of all periods and people from all walks of life so that the document is truly the crystallization of wisdom, expectations and beliefs in the young generation.

The Congress sincerely thanks the attention of leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, all levels, sectors, generations of Youth Union and Association officials.

The congress commended outstanding achievements in the emulation movement towards the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of the whole country.
