To ensure absolute safety for passengers, metro trains No. 1 are meticulously inspected by a team of engineers with the highest spirit and responsibility according to strict regulations on inspection and maintenance.
Located in Thu Duc City, Long Binh Depot is not only a coordination center but also a place for maintenance, repair, and management of all activities of metro line 1. After a long day of operating at full capacity, metro trains will return here to "rest" and be cared for and maintained to prepare the best and safest for the next day's journey.
At the train maintenance and repair workshop, the infrastructure is modernly designed with a steel frame system and sturdy cranes, supporting the installation of specialized machinery. The workshop floor is arranged with many 1.43m wide rails, creating favorable conditions for trains to move inside.
This is where metro trains are brought in for scheduled routine inspections or to deal with unexpected incidents. The team of technicians from Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) carefully checks every little detail, ensuring that the trains are always in safe and efficient operating condition.
Mr. Luu Cao Huy, Head of the Locomotive and Rolling Stock Team, of the Maintenance Enterprise, said that Metro Line 1 is an important project of the city, so the regulations on inspection and maintenance are very strict. Before a train is put into maintenance at the main workshop, the team will make a detailed plan, including a weekly, monthly and quarterly work schedule. In particular, specific maintenance time is carefully allocated for each train, ensuring that all activities take place according to the process, meeting the highest safety standards.
Engineers are assigned to each position, and will inspect and maintain at least 1-2 trains each day. The workload is divided into 3 stages, including inspection on the roof, under the body and inside the train. In the clip, engineers are meticulously inspecting items on the roof of the train such as air conditioning, refrigeration, power outlets, etc.
Underneath the train body, engineers focus on carefully checking important items such as signal equipment, pneumatic systems and braking systems... These are all key components, so each detail is carefully reviewed to promptly detect and fix potential problems, maintaining optimal performance for metro trains.
In the photo, the engineers are highly focused, their eyes following the equipment, each operation is precise and meticulous. They work like jewelers, checking every smallest detail of the train, from mechanical parts, signal systems, to engines and control devices.
After completing the inspection and measurement of the external technical parameters, the engineers continued to board the train to check the internal systems. This work includes checking important functions such as door motors, pneumatic systems, operating mechanisms, time accuracy and sound quality...
According to Mr. Huy, all stages of the maintenance process are carried out carefully, meticulously and thoroughly. “If just one small detail is overlooked or not performed according to standards, the consequences can affect the safety of thousands of passengers. Therefore, we always work with the highest sense of responsibility,” said Mr. Huy.
Mr. Nguyen Phan Huan, engineer of the Locomotive and Rolling Stock Team, said that when Metro Line 1 officially went into operation, he was both happy and worried. He was happy because the efforts and endeavors of the whole team had come to fruition and were put into service for the people; he was worried because everything was new, from knowledge to operating procedures... so the team of engineers had to constantly learn to improve their skills, master the technology and ensure safe trips.
“We must ensure that we do our job properly, uphold our responsibilities, and not allow ourselves to be negligent or subjective at any stage, no matter how small. Our goal is to ensure that the train operates stably and transports people safely,” said Mr. Huan.
Ms. Van Thi Huu Tam, Deputy Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1, said that the team of technicians is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform periodic maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and ensure the system operates continuously and safely.
In the first 5 days of commercial operation, Metro Line 1 has served 467,545 passengers. In recent days, the trains have been crowded. It is forecasted that in the coming time, the number of people using the metro will continue to increase, especially during the New Year and Lunar New Year.
