Leveraging the advantages of a coastal district.
To practically celebrate the 48th anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2023) and the 137th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2023), the People's Committee of Thanh Phu District is organizing the Thanh Phu Beach Culture - Sports - Tourism Week 2023 with the theme "Thanh Phu Beach Tourism: Linkage and Development". This is an opportunity for Thanh Phu District to introduce its tourist destinations, agricultural products, traditional crafts, and local specialties to visitors, creating opportunities for meetings, exchanges, and sharing experiences, and fostering linkages between tourism and trade businesses inside and outside the province.
According to Nguyen Van Tuong, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Thanh Phu District, the sea in Thanh Phu is not blue and the sand is not white, but it possesses the distinctive characteristics of an alluvial coastal region. The land, the people, the cultural traditions, historical relics, and the potential for ecotourism development are considered the first unique products for the district to exploit and develop tourism, befitting its status as the first provincial-level tourist area in the province.
In preparation for the April 30th holiday and the Thạnh Phú Beach Culture, Tourism and Sports Week, several food establishments have opened in Cồn Bửng. A prime example is Phương Nam, which opened on April 25th, 2023. A representative from the establishment stated that they serve a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes made from locally sourced seafood and agricultural products. However, their main offerings are seafood dishes such as prawn salad, mangrove flower salad, grilled mudskipper with chili and salt, steamed clams with lemongrass and ginger, grilled oysters with scallion oil, stir-fried blood cockles with tamarind, and grilled squid with satay sauce…
At the historical site, the Provincial Museum will display and exhibit photographs on the theme "The Ho Chi Minh Trail on the Sea," featuring over 100 photos and 35 artifacts including various types of vehicles, weapons, documents, books, and related materials. This aims to introduce and promote the local cultural and historical traditions to visitors, highlighting the site as one of the country's "red addresses" for tourism, a worthwhile destination for visitors to explore and learn about.
Experience and explore
In recent years, the Thạnh Phú District Culture, Tourism and Sports Week has become a regular local event, aiming to stimulate tourism and attract domestic and international tourists seeking experiences and exploration. Visiting Thạnh Phú, tourists can immerse themselves in the rich, alluvial waters and enjoy the pristine yet refreshing coastal scenery, easily spotting high-tech shrimp farming models and giant wind turbines both on shore and offshore.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also organized the 2023 Ben Tre Beautiful Photo Contest, with the theme "Ben Tre Beach Tourism" for the three districts of Thạnh Phú, Ba Tri, and Bình Đại. The Tourism Information and Promotion Center (under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) organized a 2-day, 1-night Famtrip to introduce the area to travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 10 businesses participating to explore and connect tour routes. Other collaborating units include Nguyen Tat Thanh University and the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association. Ho Chi Minh City and the Tourism Promotion Centers belonging to the Eastern regional linkage cluster.
According to Vo Thanh Son, Director of the Tourism Promotion Center, the 2-day, 1-night program includes: visiting the provincial-level tourist area in Thanh Phong and Thanh Hai communes (monument complex, cemetery park, Nam Hai Ancestral Temple), dining and entertainment services; visiting oyster and clam farming models and experiencing clam catching at Thanh Loi and Binh Minh fisheries cooperatives, experiencing the wind power plant; visiting the Huynh Phu ancient house relic; the relic of Battalion 307, the Six Dau oil palm trees (Dai Dien commune, Phu Khanh)...

According to Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of the Binh Minh Cooperative, the cooperative has prepared to offer this experience to tourists. Besides fishing and aquaculture activities, the cooperative plans to collaborate with travel agencies to serve tourists with sightseeing, experiences, and exploration. This will help the cooperative sell more agricultural products, contribute to increasing the cooperative's income, and promote the local image to tourists.
