Examination and medicine distribution for people in flood-affected areas in Son La

More than 260 people in Song Ma and Chieng Khoong communes were examined, provided health consultation and instructed on how to prevent and combat common diseases during and after floods.

On August 8, Son La Provincial Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital coordinated with a delegation of officials and doctors from the Provincial Department of Health to examine and provide free treatment for people in Song Ma and Chieng Khoong communes, along with a number of officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police and Search and Rescue Police, and environmental sanitation workers who suffered from common skin diseases while participating in overcoming the consequences of floods, inundations, and landslides.

Doctor Ha Van Thanh, Deputy Director of Son La Province Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital, said that the unit has focused on examining, treating and providing free medicine to cases of skin diseases and foot rot after being flooded.

During the implementation process, doctors and nurses also propagated and instructed people on health care measures and prevention of common diseases such as pink eye, athlete's foot, skin diseases, etc. to help people feel secure in working and producing.

At the program, more than 260 people from Song Ma and Chieng Khoong communes were examined, given health consultations and instructions on how to prevent and combat common diseases during and after floods such as skin diseases, pink eye, flu, intestinal diseases, etc.

In addition, doctors and nurses also give out free medicine and leaflets on disease prevention, recognition and hygiene, contributing to raising community awareness and preventing the risk of disease outbreaks in residential areas after floods.

Ms. Lo Thi Banh, Nang Cau village, Song Ma commune shared: She has suffered from skin disease for many years. After being examined and given free medicine by doctors, she was very excited and hoped that her condition would improve.

Mr. Thao La Li, Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Search and Rescue Police Team of Song Ma area (Son La Provincial Police), said that during the flood, he participated in supporting people and searching for victims, often had to come into contact with dirty water, so his whole body was itchy. He hopes to recover after a few days of being examined and prescribed medicine.

During the recent floods, hundreds of households in Song Ma, Chieng Khoong, and Muong Lam communes had to be urgently evacuated due to flooding and landslides. In the flooded areas, there is a lot of mud, and people often travel, transport, and clean household items, making it easy to contract and spread skin diseases.
