Examination and communication on health care for the elderly in Sa Pa area

On August 20, Sa Pa Regional Medical Center coordinated with Sa Pa Ward Medical Station to launch a communication campaign integrating health check-ups and screening for some common diseases in the elderly.

After the merger, Sa Pa Ward now has 1 ward health station and 5 sub-stations: Sa Pa, Ham Rong, O Quy Ho, Sa Pa and Cau May. The communication campaign integrating health check-ups for the elderly was deployed by Sa Pa Ward Health Station at the station, sub-stations and residential areas, creating the most favorable conditions for the elderly to enjoy the service.

Participating in the campaign, the elderly received health check-ups to screen for common diseases such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, etc.

The campaign also has the participation of Saigon - Lao Cai Eye Hospital to help the elderly get examined and consulted about eye diseases.

Also on this occasion, medical staff promoted communication, equipped the elderly with self-care skills, prevented common and seasonal diseases; at the same time raised public awareness about proper nutrition and lifestyle, contributing to protecting and caring for the health of the elderly.

The elderly are examined and given some free medicine.

In the Sa Pa area, there are currently over 4,500 elderly people with health records. In Sa Pa ward alone, there are 1,838 elderly people. In the first 6 months of 2025, 1,333 elderly people in the area received regular health check-ups.

A communication campaign combining health check-ups and screening for some common diseases in the elderly by 2025 is being deployed simultaneously in the Sa Pa area.

This is an annual activity to meet the health care needs of the elderly, adapt to population aging, improve population quality, and contribute to the successful implementation of the Vietnam Population Strategy to 2030.
