The Ministry of Construction requested the Vietnam Road Administration to preside over and guide project owners and investors to organize the installation of route signs for component projects that have investment policies for upgrading and expanding.
The Ministry of Construction has just sent a document to the Vietnam Road Administration and Project Management Boards (PMUs) 2, 6, 7, 85, My Thuan, Thang Long, and the management units of Ho Chi Minh Road regarding the continuous adjustment of the entire North-South Expressway route in the East.
Urgently put up route signs
According to this document, the Ministry of Construction requests the Vietnam Road Administration to preside over and guide investors and developers to organize the installation of route signs for component projects that have investment policies for upgrading and expanding. Investors need to proactively coordinate with the Road Administration to determine the route and organize implementation at the project.
For projects under investment, the Ministry of Construction requires Project Management Boards and investors to coordinate with Road Management Areas and Road Technical Centers under the Vietnam Road Administration to review design documents, ensuring consistency in the schedule between projects under implementation and projects that have been handed over for operation.
This adjustment will help to install signs and complete the synchronization of the route when the projects are put into use.
For projects that have been put into operation, the Vietnam Road Administration must urgently organize route adjustments according to the unified planning.
The Department of Roads also needs to coordinate with contractors and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) to adjust routes and organize sign placement on BOT projects and projects managed by VEC.
According to the Vietnam Road Administration, by the end of July 2025, the country had put into operation a total of 2,268km of expressways, of which the Ministry of Construction directly managed 941km, localities managed 419km, 399km were BOT projects, and 509km belonged to VEC. On August 19, the Ministry of Construction completed the technical opening of 7 projects with a total length of 221km, bringing the total number of expressways nationwide to about 2,489km.
The current explanation is not unified.
Regarding the North-South Expressway in the East, the Vietnam Road Administration said that the route is currently not unified between the component projects, causing difficulties for both vehicle owners and management and operation. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously adjust and unify the route for the entire route.
Specifically, the North-South expressway is nearly 2,100km long, stretching from Huu Nghi border gate (Lang Son) to Ca Mau city (Ca Mau). The starting point (Km0) is at Huu Nghi border gate, part of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang project and the ending point (Km2087) is at Ca Mau, part of the Can Tho - Ca Mau project. This expressway has 12 special sections with Km markers of different lengths compared to normal Km markers.
The Vietnam Road Administration said that the unification of the route along the entire North-South Expressway in the East will facilitate the management and circulation of vehicles, contributing to improving the efficiency of exploitation and maintenance of this important expressway.
