Urgently fix the landslide on District Road 34 through Long Hung Commune

(DTO) At around 7:00 p.m. on August 4, on District Road 34, on the East bank of Nguyen Tan Thanh Canal, in front of Long Hung Secondary School (right at the foot of Kinh Xang Cut Bridge) in Long Thanh A Hamlet, Long Hung Commune, Dong Thap Province, a serious landslide occurred.

According to records at the landslide area, almost the entire slope of the bridge, which is more than 30 m long and 6 m wide, has completely collapsed. The landslide is located on the main traffic route, affecting people's travel, especially as the new school year is approaching. Records at the landslide site show that the construction unit is urgently implementing remedial solutions to ensure people's travel as soon as possible.

The slope of Kinh Xang Cut bridge (opposite Long Hung Secondary School) was almost completely eroded.

Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Long Hung commune deployed measures to set up barriers in both directions to warn people not to enter the dangerous landslide area. On the morning of August 5, Mr. Doan Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Hung commune, Dong Thap province, inspected and surveyed the landslide situation in the Kinh Xang Cut bridge area.

The construction unit is urgently fixing the landslide to ensure people's travel as soon as possible.

According to comrade Doan Ngoc Vinh, District Road 34 in the Kinh Xang Cut Bridge slope area has been in a state of collapse since before. The People's Committee of Long Hung Commune (formerly) and Chau Thanh District (formerly) proposed a solution to the Department of Agriculture and Environment and it was approved. Currently, the construction unit is working on a reinforcement plan when the landslide occurred on the evening of August 4.

The Commune People's Committee has a temporary protection plan to prevent people from entering the landslide area, ensuring traffic safety and people's travel. As for this landslide point right at Long Hung Secondary School, the commune will urge the construction unit to promptly complete the repair of the incident, ensuring that students can enter the new school year 2025 - 2026. At the same time, the Commune People's Committee also arranges instructions on other routes so that people can avoid the landslide point.
