The scene of a serious landslide that completely severed a rural road in Cai Nuoc commune.

In April alone, the province recorded 10 landslides and land subsidence incidents, concentrated in the communes of Dam Doi, Cai Nuoc, Tan Thuan, Dat Moi, and Tan Thanh ward. These incidents caused the subsidence of over 400 meters of rural roads, damaged 7 houses, and resulted in estimated property damage exceeding 4 billion VND.

The People's Committee of Cai Nuoc commune has erected warning signs and barriers in the dangerous landslide area to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

Regarding the causes, Mr. To Hoai Phuong, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province, said that landslide hotspots often occur in areas with deep riverbeds and strong currents. The large difference in tidal water levels creates enormous pressure on the riverbanks. In addition, weak geological foundations combined with the flow velocity in these river sections have eroded deep into the riverbanks, causing structural instability, leading to landslides and posing a potential risk of subsidence in the future.
