Speaking at the ceremony, General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, emphasized that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh advised: "Culture lights the way for the nation", "Culture and art are also a front, artists are soldiers on that front". Imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings and the requirements of the revolution, on September 23, 1955, the General Department of Politics decided to open training classes for cadres and actors specializing in art, laying the foundation for the establishment of the Military Arts School - now the Military University of Culture and Arts.
General Trinh Van Quyet assessed that, after 70 years of construction, development and growth, the Military University of Culture and Arts has persistently affirmed its position as one of the first revolutionary art schools in the country; a "red address" for training and educating cadres, teachers, artists - soldiers, those who have used art as a weapon, using songs, dances, and theatrical stories to support the national spirit, encourage soldiers to volunteer, preserve and promote the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers". The school has become a center of creativity, spreading revolutionary cultural and artistic values, contributing to building a spiritual and cultural foundation, encouraging the aspiration for independence, peace , and solidarity for the cause of national liberation struggle, building and defending the Fatherland.
With its outstanding achievements, the Military University of Culture and Arts has been awarded many noble prizes. In the new context, in order for culture, literature and art to truly become an endogenous resource, a great spiritual driving force, contributing to strengthening confidence, fostering determination, fostering and promoting the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", training the personality of cadres and soldiers, meeting the requirements of the task of building and defending the Fatherland, General Trinh Van Quyet suggested that schools focus on implementing well a number of key points, including fundamental and comprehensive innovation of training content, programs and methods.
Specifically, schools need to closely combine theory with practice, learning with practice; "teaching people" alongside "teaching a profession"; linking training with composition and performance; focusing on multi-disciplinary and multi-field training, especially key majors such as music , dance, theater, cinema, multimedia; proactively applying science - technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation in teaching, composition, and performance; aiming to build a model of "digital school, smart classroom"; strengthening links with theaters, art troupes, and press agencies, thereby creating a breakthrough in training quality, enhancing prestige and brand in the education system of the Army and the country.
Along with focusing on building a team of cadres, lecturers and artists with strong political will, a spirit of dedication and aspiration to rise up, capable of training and creating works of art with profound ideology and art, creating great influence, the Military University of Culture and Arts needs to promote investment, modernization and management, strictly and effectively use facilities and equipment for training, research, performance and artistic creation; soon complete the Practice Theater into a professional learning, creative and performing space, a place to gather famous artists and singers; develop the Army Symphony Orchestra in a professional, specialized direction, meeting regional and international standards, demonstrating a modern military cultural vision, in line with the integration trend, making an important contribution to defense diplomacy, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy in the field of culture and art.
"Continue to stage and perform many high-quality art programs, imbued with national identity, with modernity and high academic quality... Each work and each performance must spread the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", be an "ideological weapon", have the power to move and encourage cadres, soldiers and people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland", General Trinh Van Quyet requested.
According to the commemorative speech presented by Colonel Ho Trong Tuan, Principal, over the past 70 years, the Military University of Culture and Arts has trained nearly 12,000 students from intermediate, college to university and postgraduate levels (including more than 5,000 military students; nearly 1,000 mountainous students; more than 200 police students, and nearly 300 Lao students). Graduates have been welcomed by units inside and outside the Army, and have successfully completed their assigned duties and tasks.
