Information from the Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Province on the afternoon of July 21 said that a surprise inspection of the activities of tourist boats taking tourists to visit the islands in Nha Trang Bay was carried out that morning. Thereby, cases of shortcomings and violations were detected, prevented and strictly handled.

In charge of this surprise inspection was Waterway Traffic Police Team No. 1, directly commanded by Lieutenant Colonel, Team Leader Nguyen Van Bien.

At Nha Trang Tourist Wharf at 9:10 am on July 21, the KH-13… ship was welcoming 26 tourists preparing to start a sea and island tour , when the working group of the Waterway Traffic Police Team No. 1 conducted an inspection. Although the captain had presented all the necessary documents, including the certificate of registration, certificate of captain's professional competence, crew list, etc., at the time of inspection, the KH-13… tourist boat did not have a fire extinguisher, so the working group still suspended the KH-13… tourist boat's operation and brought all passengers to the wharf to arrange other means to ensure the safety of the tourists.

Another case is the tourist ship KH-02… which was also preparing to leave Nha Trang Tourist Wharf to take nearly 20 tourists to visit the islands, but was also asked to temporarily stop operations due to not having enough crew members as registered, so the working group asked the captain to bring the passengers to the wharf to arrange other means of transport.

According to the leader of the Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Province, during the patrol and control process to ensure order and safety of inland waterway traffic in the past 5 days (July 17-21), Waterway Traffic Police Team No. 1 discovered and suspended the operation of 4 tourist boats, because at the time of inspection, they did not ensure the requirements and conditions according to the law on inland waterway passenger transport activities.
