The Rach Mop sluice gate project, constructed on the Rach Mop River in Song Phung commune (Long Phu district) and Nhon My commune (Ke Sach district), commenced construction on January 5, 2023. The project has a water clearance width of B = 85m, comprising two sluice gate bays of B = 35m each, one lock bay of B = 15m; flat steel gates opened and closed by hydraulic cylinders; access roads for local residents; and other auxiliary structures, with an investment of over 516 billion VND. After more than two years of implementation, all project components have been completed. The construction meets the quality requirements of the design documents, and the project components have been inspected and approved in accordance with the law, making it eligible for acceptance and handover for use.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Vuong Quoc Nam - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province - stated that the completion and operation of the Rach Mop sluice gate contributes to increasing water storage capacity, creating water sources, and proactively controlling tidal surges and saltwater intrusion, regulating water resources for agricultural and industrial production, and providing water for daily life in Soc Trang province. In addition, the project also controls salinity, preserves freshwater, and creates conditions for stable and sustainable production directly for 19,220 hectares of agricultural land in the districts of Ke Sach, Chau Thanh, Long Phu, and Soc Trang city. The project is also an important foundation for the continued implementation of other irrigation projects in the province in the future, such as the Dai Ngai sluice gate and the My Xuyen sluice gate. To maximize the effectiveness of the project, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take over the project on-site, manage and operate it according to its objectives, ensuring effective service for drought and salinity control, freshwater storage, disaster adaptation, and the development of production and daily life for the people...
