Inauguration and handover of Rach Mop culvert project

STO - On April 19, in Song Phung commune, Long Phu district (Soc Trang), the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the People's Committee of Soc Trang province to organize the Inauguration and Handover Ceremony of the Rach Mop sluice gate (South bank water control project of Hau river). Attending were comrades: Doan Hong Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Government Inspector General; Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Soc Trang province; Ho Thi Cam Dao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province; Tran Van Lau - Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province; Nguyen Hoang Hiep - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Ly Rotha - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province; Vuong Quoc Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province; Ha Duc Hanh - Director of the Investment and Construction Management Board of Irrigation 10; leaders of relevant departments and branches of the province; Leaders of District Party Committee, People's Committee of Long Phu district, Ke Sach district.

The Rach Mop sluice gate project built on the Rach Mop river, located in Song Phung commune (Long Phu district) and Nhon My commune (Ke Sach district) was started on January 5, 2023. The project has a water clearance width of B = 85m, including 2 sluice gates B = 35m, 1 boat lock compartment B = 15m; flat steel valve gates, opened and closed by hydraulic cylinders; residential roads and other auxiliary works, with an investment of more than 516 billion VND. After more than 2 years of implementation, up to now, all items of the project have been completed, the construction works meet the quality requirements of the design documents, the organization of acceptance of construction items in accordance with the provisions of law and are eligible for acceptance, handover and put into use.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province said that the completion of the Rach Mop Lock Sluice project and its operation will contribute to increasing the capacity to store water, create sources and proactively control high tides, saltwater intrusion, and regulate water sources for agricultural and industrial production and domestic water supply in Soc Trang province. Along with that, the project also controls salinity, retains fresh water, and creates stable and sustainable production conditions directly for 19,220 hectares of agricultural land in the districts of Ke Sach, Chau Thanh, Long Phu and Soc Trang city. The project is also an important foundation for continuing to deploy other irrigation projects in the coming time in the province such as Dai Ngai Lock Sluice and My Xuyen Lock Sluice. To promote the effectiveness of the project, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to receive the project in the field, manage and operate the project according to its objectives, ensuring effective service for the work of preventing and combating drought, salinity, storing fresh water, adapting to natural disasters and developing production and people's lives...
