Rewarding 3 outstanding groups in solving kidnapping cases

(HGO) - On the morning of May 14, the Provincial Police held an award ceremony for groups with outstanding achievements in solving the kidnapping case for the purpose of appropriating property that occurred in Tan Phu Thanh commune, Chau Thanh A district. Attending the event was Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to the Provincial Police, previously, at around 11:00 a.m. on May 11, 2024, Chau Thanh A District Police received a report that Mr. MVC, deputy director of a consulting, design, and interior and exterior construction company in Can Tho City, after going to Chau Thanh A District on May 10, 2024, to meet a customer, was kidnapped by someone else, who contacted Mr. C's family to demand a ransom of 10 billion VND. Determining the seriousness of the incident, the Director of the Provincial Police directed professional units and local police to quickly verify, with the determination to rescue and ensure absolute safety for the hostages as soon as possible.

Because the victim had a wide social network, the provincial police coordinated with professional departments, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Can Tho Police, Vinh Long Police, Dong Thap Police... to mobilize nearly 100 leaders, commanders, officers, and soldiers divided into many working groups to track down hot traces, extract cameras, and verify the victim's personal relationships. With high determination and a sense of responsibility, by 4 p.m. the same day, the two masterminds of the crime were identified as two brothers, Nguyen Huu Nghia (born in 1977) and Nguyen Thanh Nguyen (born in 1987), both residing in An Nhon commune, Chau Thanh district, Dong Thap province, currently hiding in Vinh Long province.

With the active cooperation of Vinh Long Provincial Police, at 0:10 a.m. on May 12, 2024, the authorities arrested Nghia while he was moving on the road in Long Thanh Hamlet, Luc Sy Thanh Commune, Tra On District. Through quick investigation, Nghia confessed that the location where the victim was arrested was a house in Tan Hung Hamlet, Tan Hanh Commune, Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province. At 0:40 a.m. on the same day, the reconnaissance teams approached and surrounded the target. Realizing that he was surrounded, Nguyen Thanh Nguyen boldly used a knife to the victim's neck and demanded a car and released Nghia so that the subjects and the victim could escape.

The police force organized a call and persuaded the subject to give up the weapon to enjoy the leniency policy, but the subject still stubbornly resisted and threatened to kill the victim. At 3:20 a.m. on May 12, 2024, taking advantage of the subject's lack of vigilance, the Head of the Criminal Police Department, Hau Giang Provincial Police, and detectives directly knocked down, took away the weapon, and successfully controlled the subject Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, safely rescuing the victim. Continuing to "hotly" investigate the accomplices, at 6:00 a.m. on May 13, 2024, detectives arrested Nguyen Quoc Thanh (born in 1987) and Ly Minh Chanh (born in 1978, living as a vagrant) while they were hiding in Can Tho city, Dong Nai province. Currently, the Investigation Police Agency, Hau Giang Provincial Police has issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute the defendants to continue investigating and clarifying.

In recognition of the outstanding achievements of the police force, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province decided to award certificates of merit and a reward of 70 million VND to three collectives: the Criminal Police Department, Provincial Police; the Technical and Offline Department, Provincial Police and Chau Thanh A District Police.

With the spirit of resolutely fighting against crime, not afraid of difficulties and dangers, along with intelligence and cleverness in professional activities, the police officers and soldiers successfully discovered the case, fought to clarify and arrest the related subjects to handle according to the provisions of law.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, promoting the achievements and results, the Provincial Police force needs to more drastically and effectively deploy preventive measures and fight against all types of crimes, bringing a peaceful life to the people.
