When college youth put on military uniforms

The Command Board of Joint Company 7 highly appreciated Mr. Tran Hoang Doi and Mr. Nguyen Huu Lam for their sense of responsibility, sense of discipline and efforts to complete their tasks well. Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Le Anh Quoc, Political Commissar of Joint Company 7, said: “As young men with university degrees, during their duties at the unit, soldiers Doi and Lam demonstrated their ability and progressive spirit, always overcoming difficulties, completing assigned tasks well and actively supporting their comrades and teammates.”

Doi and Lam enlisted in February 2025. During the 3 months of new soldier training, the two expressed their desire to serve in the army for a long time. Thanks to their university degrees, the 893rd Regiment completed their application to take the second degree exam at the 2nd Army Officer School. Currently, both are actively studying and preparing for the exam scheduled to take place in September 2025.

In addition to the materials for reviewing Math and Philosophy exams, soldier Tran Hoang Doi shared that he graduated from Tra Vinh University in 2022 with a degree in rehabilitation engineering. After that, he was recruited and became an official employee in the medical industry. Although his job was stable, when he received the call to join the army in early 2025, he did not hesitate and was ready to go and fulfill his duty. Doi said: "I think it is the responsibility of a citizen to the Fatherland, so I have to fulfill it."

Mr. Doi is 25 years old this year, from Kien Luong commune. During the training process, he gradually overcame his initial confusion and developed a love for the military environment. "I began to love the disciplined environment, clear hours and most importantly, being able to contribute my youth to the task of protecting the Fatherland" - Mr. Doi confided.

Soldier Nguyen Huu Lam, 23 years old this year, lives in Vinh Thong ward, has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, specializing in automobiles from Nha Trang University. While doing his professional work, he decided to temporarily put it aside to volunteer for military service, with encouragement from his family. "I thought a lot about continuing my current job and the responsibility of a young man to the country. My father passed away, the family only had my mother and I, the youngest son. My three sisters were all married. I was very worried, but with the encouragement of my mother and sisters, I felt secure to join the military," Lam shared.

With a foundation of knowledge, will and spirit of overcoming difficulties, Mr. Lam increasingly affirms the mettle of a young soldier, ready to accept and complete all tasks well. These days, he and Mr. Doi take advantage of the time to review to prepare for the important exam. "We are cared for by the company command, creating conditions to arrange review time on Monday, Thursday, Friday evenings and during breaks. In particular, the company commander and the company political commissar also directly guide us to review Math and Philosophy to consolidate knowledge" - Mr. Lam said.

In just two months, Doi and Lam will take the second diploma exam, an important gateway to realizing their dream of serving long-term in the military. Both are determined: “We will try our best to pass the exam, not to disappoint the expectations of our families and units. We are determined to continue to contribute our youth to the Fatherland.”

The 7th Joint Company was established by the Minister of National Defense on December 31, 2016 and announced on May 21, 2017. The unit is stationed in Tien Hai commune - a sea and island border commune with historical waters adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
