BHG - Every evening, when the streets of Ha Giang calm down after a busy day, the cultural houses of the residential groups are lit up. To the bustling music , people over the age of 60 and 70 still dance gracefully, supplely and full of vitality. For them, dancing is not only a sport, but also a "spiritual medicine" that helps the elderly live happily, healthily and meaningfully every day.
Although he is the only male member, Mr. Tu often participates in ballroom dancing. |
Established 8 years ago, Tran Phu Dance Club currently has 23 members, regularly participating in activities at the cultural house of groups 2, 3, 4, Tran Phu ward. This is one of the first and most persistent dance clubs in the city, contributing to spreading the spirit of active and positive living in the elderly community. Mr. Trieu Minh Tu, 73 years old, one of the long-time members of the Club, emotionally shared: “The older I get, the more I feel the need to exercise and socialize. I joined the Club from the very beginning, and now my wife also joins. Dancing helps my wife and I bond more, our spirits are more relaxed, and our health is also much better.” For Mr. Tu, dancing is not only exercise but also a “medicine of happiness” that keeps old age light and colorful.
Club meetings are opportunities for the elderly to meet and learn. |
Quang Trung Sports Dance Club is also a bright spot of the movement. Established in 2016, the club currently has 24 members, chaired by Mr. Cao Thanh Tra, 70 years old - a passionate person. Mr. Tra happily said: Each person comes to dancing for a different reason, but then they all stay because they find it fun and healthy. There is a person who used to stay at home almost all the time, but now he comes every night, talks and laughs happily, and lives much more openly." According to Mr. Tra, the special thing about dancing is its flexibility and accessibility. There is no need for talent, nor is there an age limit. Just a comfortable spirit and soft shoes, anyone can start.
Dancing is a precious medicine, helping to improve the health of the elderly, helping the elderly live happily, healthily and meaningfully. |
Not only practicing, dance clubs also maintain regular exchanges and perform at community events. On those occasions, the elderly also have their own stage to shine, express themselves, and spread positive energy to those around them.
No need for big playgrounds or expensive equipment, these elderly people are still living healthy and happy lives with simple but inspiring dance steps. When night falls, the lights turn on, the footsteps continue to be rhythmic like the youthful rhythm that they are preserving every day.
