(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Thousands of Russian servicemen and military equipment participated in the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory Day (May 9) at Red Square in Moscow.

At exactly 10:00 Moscow time (2:00 PM Vietnam time), the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory Day began in Red Square in Moscow, the capital of Russia.

At Red Square, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov inspected the parade contingent and received a report from the parade commander, Commander of the Russian Ground Forces Oleg Salyukov.

The Russian Defense Minister and the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces reviewed the formations of the armed forces participating in the parade.

Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov reported the inspection results to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Putin delivered a speech before the parade, praising the Great Patriotic War and commemorating those who died in the war.

As President Putin finished his speech, thousands of servicemen chanted "Ura!" in unison, and a volley of cannons boomed in the background of the Russian national anthem.

Following the honor guard, the Russian parade contingents began marching onto the reviewing stand under the command of General Oleg Salyukov.

The parade began with a contingent of cadets from the Moscow Military Music School. This was followed by the honor guard carrying the military flag and Russian soldiers representing the Soviet Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. Next came the contingent of wartime pilots.

Following the contingent representing the Soviet Red Army, the foreign military contingents, representing the armies of 13 countries, began marching past the reviewing stand.

Azerbaijan's parade contingent led the way, followed by Belarus. Next came the parade contingents from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The contingent of the Vietnam People's Army marching past the reviewing stand consisted of 68 soldiers. They marched in an 8-8 formation, with groups of three carrying the military flag. The contingent was led by Lieutenant Colonel Pham Khac Gia.
